I don't have the exact count but both the Gophers and Wolverines will be out players coming up due to Covid and/or the US WJC training camp. I believe it could be 5 for UMi for Covid and 3 for UM for WJC.

I was kind of surprised he didn’t bring Mike Gibbons with him as he was a great recruiter for us. Maybe he tried? He stayed on, retired, then came out of retirement to assist his almamater in Bemidji.

The other thing that now makes more sense is that your typical hockey player is NOT the kind of person who wants their hockey stick stroked by someone of the same ilk.....the fact that these players were duped into putting blindfolds on is pretty alarming.

This story has been public for quite a long time. But, I think it is overblown, pun intended.

Brad Buetow hasn't been the coach of the team since 1985, 36 years ago. The assistant coach moved on long ago and his problems are well known. The Athletic Directors, the assistant ADs, the President of the University. Long gone. The story was made public. It is easy to understand it was wrong. But nothing can be done about it, and it was a much different era when this subject was much more taboo.

You might remember this story. There was a kid who played on the Gopher football team in 1982 and I think he was from Edina. He was a really small player who actually played defensive tackle. One night, he jumped off the 10th Ave bridge to his death. Sid Hartman ran a blurb in his column about the kid, talking about his devastated family and fiancee. But the fact was, he was gay. His boyfriend was a friend of mine. Life was a lot different 35 years ago.
