The CCHA is BACKKKKKKKKK
https://msumavericks.com/news/2020/2/17 ... LtfSn8Nxd8
Seven prominent NCAA Division I hockey playing institutions who first announced last June the exploration of a new Division I men's hockey conference that will begin play in the 2021-2022 season, have now shared that the league will be reestablished and branded as the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA). The seven member institutions include: Bemidji State University, Bowling Green State University, Ferris State University, Lake Superior State University, Michigan Technological University, Minnesota State University, Mankato, and Northern Michigan University.
The alignment continues to be led by Dr. Morris Kurtz, a noted athletics and hockey consultant, who has guided the members through legal incorporation, the creation of league bylaws and the establishment of a financial escrow fund. According to Kurtz, the next steps will include development of league branding and logos and commencement of a search for the conference's first Commissioner, who they hope to have in place no later than July 1.
"It's been inspiring to lead this group as it is comprised of institutions rich in history and tradition, with a strong commitment to academic and athletic excellence. As noted from inception, they have a real vision for where they are going with the new league, as they focus on improving regional alignment while building natural rivalries and enhancing the student-athlete and fan experience," said Kurtz.
Kurtz explained the decision to revive the CCHA moniker. "After extensive discussion and significant due diligence, it made sense to everyone involved to move in this direction. The name conveys the current geographic alignment of our members and the CCHA brand has a tremendous amount of equity and goodwill associated with it. What's old is new again and we look forward to refreshing the brand and identity to fully capture the energy and passion of the institutions it represents."
No timeline was given, but Kurtz indicates the schools are moving in the appropriate direction to conclude the establishment of the league and they are right on pace for an October 2021 first puck drop to start play. "We have interviewed several consulting firms to assist us with brand development. That process will create some momentum for us as we begin the commissioner search process. I am confident that the Central Collegiate Hockey Association commissionership presents an incredible opportunity. We will find the right person and have them ready to start leading this group by July 1."

I think it is time for hockey to let go of alaska. It is what it is, just a huge expense to include them.
There is really no one in college hockey that is looking out for what is best for college hockey and that is sad.
From the Big Mistake to the NCAA putting regionals in who gives a shit cities.
The easiest thing for the NCAA to do is change the regionals to 2 sites, St Paul and Boston. 8 Teams play down to 2 to go to the frozen four. Both sites would be full for 3 days of hockey 2 games thur, 2 friday, 2 Saturday.

They gonna hang a banner up for it?
It was a fun series to watch. Give the Huskies all the credit in the world. Always a tough series in the concrete center. Despite only getting 1 of 6 points the Sioux still have a 6 point lead over UMD with 4 games to go. Also remained number 1 in the pairwise

Still fighting for the 4th spot. Nice to see them trending up and still in the hunt. Still got Denver at home and UMD on the road. Going to be tough, but not impossible.Jimtown guy wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2020 8:30 amThey gonna hang a banner up for it?

For his role, Berry has been named the national coach of the year by both major national publications -- College Hockey News and U.S. College Hockey Online.

UAA dropped their men's hockey program for financial reasons.
The writing has been on the wall for the UAA (and possibly UAF) for awhile now, but that's tough for them. I always wanted to make that roadtrip when UAA and UND were both still in the WCHA.

The year AA beat bucky in the playoffs to get to the final five was epic. I think they had about 100 fans at the X and you knew they were there. The group behind our seats cheered every pass, hit, shift change. Of course it got better the more beer they drank.Jimtown guy wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2020 7:47 pm UAA dropped their men's hockey program for financial reasons.

UND's official schedule still lists a preseason exhibition game against Manitoba on Oct. 3 and a regular-season opening series against Bemidji State on Oct. 9-10.
Neither will happen, though.
The National Collegiate Hockey Conference is one of multiple leagues preparing to officially announce a delay to the start of the college hockey season because of the ongoing global coronavirus pandemic. An announcement, which has long been expected, will likely be delivered within a week, according to two sources
