Gopher hockey chat? I like this general college hockey chat! Are the Gophs going to win a game in the Mariucci Classic this year? Me says no! Aren't they like the 5th or 6th best team in the State now?

UMD/Denver in ten days is a tasty matchup! Going to take my boys to watch the Huskies vs Princeton on Saturday night. Last Saturday was a blast and a very nice win for SCSU against Northeastern after they dropped their first home game in ages on Friday night. Huskies lost alot of talent last year, hopefully Larson gets this group flying here in the next couple of weeks!

UND held Michigan Tech to 15 shots in their 3-1 win in the Hall of Fame game at the Ralph. Currently they have allowed the fewest shots on net in the country. That’s UND hockey I remember from the early 2000’s.

Sam Hentges (Wild draftee) is looking like a one man wrecking machine and is on quite a hot streak. Seems like he and Easton Brodzinski have had something to do with just about every goal I've seen this year at the Herb. Hentges looks like a 7th round steal for the Wild. Injuries before his college career pushed him down the draft boards. Don't know if he will stick around for his JR year at SCSU if he keeps it up at this pace. Fun young man to watch play hockey!

The Gophers' schedule doesn't get any easier, but at least the next 6 are at home. Time to make some noise.

Need more of that. Defense and goaltending was supposed to be our strong suit this season. Not so much so far. Very young up front. Hentges has been great.

UND sitting at 7-1-1 but now have their biggest test this coming weekend in Denver. A split would okay with me. DU in my book is the team to beat in the NCHC this year

Need that power play to start clicking and need to stop giving up shorties. Hentges has developed into one of the Wilds better prospects. Not bad for a 7th round pick. Hentges, Achan, and Brodzinski have been great all year. Really like what the Hammer/Rocco/Wahlin line has brought the last few weekends.

Hrenek needs to be better. Probably wouldn't hurt to give him a night off every now and then as the season progresses. Giving up these big leads in the 3rd period has got to stop. The D has alot of things to button up! Still think they have as good of a shot as anybody to win the NCHC. Time to start getting those points this weekend against CC!

UND takes down Denver in overtime in Denver. Game goes as a tie as nobody scored in the 5 minute 5 on 5 overtime but the Sioux get an extra point in the standings as they scored on the 3 on 3 overtime. Very well played game and Scheel for the Sioux came up big on a handful of grade A chances by the Pioneers.

Your boys sound like they’re playing up to their talent level for the first time in a few years.

Yeah it’s been awhile but it’s early. If Scheel continues to play the way he has so far they have a chance to win every game. This years freshman are really good and the D core is solid

UND extends their home winning streak to 10 after dispatching St Could tonight 4-2. Shots were 34-19 and UND continues to dominate in the circle winning 32 of 50 draws. Record goes to 9–1-2. It’s been awhile since they’ve had a start like this

Hell I had Denver for the team to beat this year. I guess I should hold off with that until they start playing conference games. They are winless in NCHC play so far.

Where are all the gopher fans at? Gotta give Motzko another year if not 2 to see results. There have been and will be done growing pains. That’s what happens to young teams. I hate seeing Mariucci half empty. Once this team is in the hunt again for a NC it will fill up again. Hopefully because it’s a bad look for the game

The worst part of the empty seats is many are sold but not being used? And it is not just a couple.
I dont think that many fans stop showing up all on their own. There has to be a group of people telling people not to show.
it seems like a silent boycott.
Not much being said by the U. Saw some ads for packages as low as 20-25.00 per game.
It is funny to hear the announcers talk about the crowd or vibe in the building.
Back to back vs Bucky and Sioux and butts in the seats for those 4 games had to be under 20K total.
