Ryan James tweeted a link to 247 talking about grad transfer guards that are available. Anyone have a 247 subscription? Or cliff notes?

Isaiah Ihnen, 4 star, 6’9”
Tre Williams, 3 star, 6’4”
Sam Freeman, 3 star, 6’10”

Add those guys to the roster and the Gophers should be pretty good.

These are the names but I'm not sure if Ryan is necessarily connecting them to Minnesota.

Jaevin Cumberland of Oakland -- Michigan/Oregon after
Edric Dennis Jr of UT Arlington -- K State, Alabama, TCU, Georgia Tech, Xavier, Utah State, Baylor and Western Kentucky all reached out
Lindsey Drew of Nevada
Bakari Evelyn of Valpo
BJ Maxwell of Abilene Christian

Yep, in the story Ryan says most think he wants to remain down there and close to home.

Announced a week ago. Rumor early was he wanted warm weather, maybe guaranteed a starter role? Can't ever decide what I think of Tom Crean...

I believe he went there for a year then transferred to Pitt hence the grad transfer after three years of playing and 4 in college.

I wonder if the Gophers interest in Moss is an indicator that the coaching staff feels Coffey is gone? Moss isn't coming here if Coffey is back.

Coffey can play the point now too obviously so I do think it would work whether he came back or not. Now obviously he's heading to visit another spot right now and there's zero indication he's going to take a visit here.

It would be pretty hard to keep Carr out of the starting line-up. Not only is he talented, but he's the only true point guard on the team. Sounds like Isaiah Moss wants a bigger role wherever he goes.

I think the sixth man role is wide open here... and they could probably rotate five guards (Moss, Coffey, Willis, Carr and Kalscheur) for three spots pretty easily. But yeah, this is the problem the Gophers will have recruiting any grad transfer guard.. what's available for time? Gabe and Marcus will start. Willis is here and will get minutes. Normally you'd think this would be a good spot (If Coffey is back) to take a talented sit out transfer but they really need those 4 scholarships available for the 2020 class IMO.

Without Coffey, Isaiah Moss would be the starting small forward. Maybe this is a sign about Amir and the draft.

I don't believe that's the case. I think if Coffey is back, they view him as capable at point guard so they could still use another wing who can shoot. AND the key is he's a grad transfer of course.

What will be interesting a year from now (or two) is if Carr, Curry and Willis consider grad transferring. Anytime these guys miss a year now, that will be an option. I do see Michael Hurt did in fact graduate this spring too. But anyway, if you get a guy who is a pretty good player hitting the grad transfer market, you can expect high majors are calling immediately at this point.

Just saw this from Ryan James as well. Is he a pure PG or combo guard? Haven’t really paid attention to him before. Never heard or read him connected to the Gophers.

That would be an epic get and round out the class. Perfect backup PG behind Carr.

He looks like he can really score and handle the ball. I like the fact that he shot 42.5% from three. Looks like he'd be a good fit here.

I watched half of the video and didn't see him go by a guy one time. Conversely, he was able to finish well with guys in his face.
I suspect he's slow on defense, too.

If he can be a solid rotation guy then sign him up, but I wouldn't set the bar too high.

I know they're just highlight videos, but he looks like he might be a better fit than Grant Sherfield. He looks like a better ball handler and he appears to be a better three point shooter (42.5% vs. 37.5%).
