Treyton Thompson is a gopher lock. I think he's been quoted as saying it essentially his dream school. He is a 6'11 stud, can't wait to watch him play.

Yep, he's a solid verbal commit for Pitino. I've watched a little video of him this past year but he's at a prep school with some talented players around him. Didn't stand out a ton but he's a bit raw so I commend him for going to a prep school to get more ready for college.full force five wrote: ↑Wed Apr 29, 2020 10:09 am Treyton Thompson is a gopher lock. Do you think any possible delays for the AAU season will help keep teams away from Tschetter? After watching how he progressed last year, I feel like the Gophers need to offer him soon.

I very much doubt there will be an AAU season. I doubt there will even be summer breakdown tournaments or the south of the river league. My sons high school team was schedules for all that and it's on hold. Based on what Walz is saying those events are the last to happen.

Re: 2021 Gophers Recruits
Locally Heat shut down at least through June 30th and they're the largest AAU program in Minnesota. Havent seen anyone else cancel yet, I know our program is hopeful, even if I doubt it happens.full force five wrote: ↑Thu Apr 30, 2020 1:40 pm I very much doubt there will be an AAU season. Re: 2021 Gophers Recruits
For the older kids . . . pushing into the summer gets hard. My sons high school team was suppose to start 3 day a week practices starting in June. Breakdown tournaments, south of the river etc. start up . . . of course the very top AAU teams are still going strong but most are slowing down by July. August is the no contact period, I wonder if the MNSHL will cancel that this summer.

Gophers should offer him immediately.. seems like a lot of high major coaches say the want to see him. Don't get it.

Re: 2021 Gophers Recruits
Sad thing is ... did Pitino offer Tschetter because he saw Michigan and Nebraska jump on it? I said back in February they should offer him. We'll see what happens.

It definitely feels like he was offered in response to the Michigan and Nebraska offers. Hopefully that isn't the case.

Re: 2021 Gophers Recruits
TyTy Washington is a pg to keep an eye on for 2021. New assistant coach Jeff Mailhot has some connections to the western region and overlapped as a coach at Robbinsdale Cooper with Pete Kaffey who works for the prep school where Washington is. Kaffey of course was the main guy with Rashad Vaughn back in the day... at Cooper then FIndlay Prep. Kaffey is working out with Gach now. Gophers offered Washington over the weekend.

White privilege in action....just pick a team and be done with it Chet. Absurd.

I could see Chet going to the G-League if he gets an offer.

Ole Chet isn't picking the Gophers with those options.

Re: 2021 Gophers Recruits
Yeah sad to say if NC, OSU hell Gonzaga offer you, unless you see yourself on the bench/no NBA prospects you're not picking the Gophers until Pitino can prove otherwise.Sergeant Rubetube wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2020 9:17 pm Ole Chet isn't picking the Gophers with those options.
What pisses me off is that if you have real NBA potential the BT should offer you everything you want. You play a great conference schedule against leget national competition, every game is on TV, there is plenty of national exposure, the Gophers have really upped their game lately for NC scheduling, it's a legit school, your campus is in a fucking major metro area, it's a fact U stars have forever business contacts in the TC if you're not a complete moron, etc. Plus if you're a local kid that takes the Gophers into the NCAAs you'll be a local legend.
I'm not an idiot - I understand why a kid would pick NC or Duke. But that the Gophers lose so many local kids to Iowa, Wisconsin and others is frustrating. Everyone my age has forever love and adoration for the players on Clem's teams no matter what happened with Gangelhof. Why can't that shit happen again?

One of the first things I thought too when I saw that tweet and all the other jerseys in that picture.Sergeant Rubetube wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2020 9:17 pm Ole Chet isn't picking the Gophers with those options.
Since the Tyus/Reid/Vaughn class of 2014, Minnesota has become a hot bed for recruiting. I'm just begging for a coach to come here and make it the vogue thing for kids to stay home. It just takes one kid like Chet to stay home to make it the popular thing to do, but I don't feel Dick Pit is the guy to do it, nor is the program in shape to finally land one of these guys.

You need a young hip coach to make the change. Little richard is about as hip as vanilla ice cream. I think Damian Johnson is a couple years out.

Coffey/Oturu were top 50 kids who stayed home.... but that's not enough... and I think it's 50/50 or less that a 5 star kid stays home... I lean less but I don't have the data in front of me.bubu dubu. wrote: ↑Tue Jun 30, 2020 10:45 pmOne of the first things I thought too when I saw that tweet and all the other jerseys in that picture.Sergeant Rubetube wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2020 9:17 pm Ole Chet isn't picking the Gophers with those options.

I still like what Pitino has done and I do believe winning will keep more kids home eventually... assuming he starts winning otherwise he'd lose his job of course.

I don't know who I want next. Damian Johnson should for sure be on the coaching staff the next time there's an assistant opening. I hope he does well at Benilde. He's already 33 years old too... he ain't that young -- get him on the staff.
