I did read that since -- Dainja may have a questionable motor!cmd24 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2019 7:08 amI've heard he scored 40 against Dainja in the Breakdown game at Hopkins. Completely outplayed Dainja, from all accounts that I've heard.

There's a lot of positive momentum for him to stay home. His attendance at multiple home games is telling, IMO.

Walton's recruitment is the strangest I've seen in quite a while. Gophers went from being considered, to dead, to now being heavily considered again.
Great turn of events, but wild ride. His recruitment has been like Pitino's coaching career here. They're destined for one another!

Re: 2020 Gophers Hoops Recruits
Something didn't feel right with UNC so he balked when they asked him to commit. There are still some schools out there that are interesting, including Arizona but if Nnaji is one and done there, I don't know why they'd be considered a favorite. It was long rumored a year or two ago he was the guy who was most likely to stay home (I think him and Dainja). He reportedly wanted to stay close to here but it was like others who have gone to the next state over. Iowa St / Creighton were rumored I think at one point...Style wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2019 2:29 pm Walton's recruitment is the strangest I've seen in quite a while. Good info. Hopefully he decides to commit here. He'd be a fantastic way to close out the class.

If Walton commits that would round out a very nice class. I just wonder if the Gophers will be too guard heavy, I do think Walton can play wing along with Gabe.

Yeah Walton is definitely a wing -- and they will be guard/wing heavy but still on paper will have 5 post guys (Oturu/Mitchell/Freeman/Curry/Omersa) plus Ihnen who might end up being a 4 anyways.full force five wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2019 8:29 am If Walton commits that would round out a very nice class. It's also a bit easier accepting a Walton commitment knowing '21 Thompson is committed as a big.HeHateMe wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2019 11:22 amYeah Walton is definitely a wing -- and they will be guard/wing heavy but still on paper will have 5 post guys (Oturu/Mitchell/Freeman/Curry/Omersa) plus Ihnen who might end up being a 4 anyways.full force five wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2019 8:29 am If Walton commits that would round out a very nice class. Re: 2020 Gophers Hoops Recruits
Some day Gophers BB will land their Tyler Johnson. Someone that was a solid recruit that perhaps didn't project out completely to what he did at and for the U, And in the end become a star, a legend that secures his place in school history and in this town. (Settle down I am not comparing TJ as a FB prospect to Suggs as one in basketball at the time they comitted).
Suggs is going to be a star so this is not really a knock on his choice - but how someone locally can't see what's happening at TCF, attend a game at Williams and see how rocking that place can get, see the social media STORM and excitement surrounding the football program, know that you're set for life in this town if you play your cards right, know that the BTC is as huge of a stepping stone to the pros and gets as much TV exposure as whatever conference Gonzaga is in, see that this program is 1, 2 players at most away from being legit, and have the balls to take that leap of faith and blow it up for themselves?
Honestly at this point I don't think it's the school, the arena nor it's location anymore that's keeping us from landing guys like this.

Re: 2020 Gophers Hoops Recruits
I’m not surprised Suggs chose Gonzaga, as it’s been fairly well known for a while, that he was leaning that way. I think they have to be damn exciting because that’s probably the highest rated recruit they’ve ever had.
I don’t think the U can be mad about losing him, though. I think most people understand that some of these highly rated recruits are going to the blue blood schools (you could argue the Zags aren’t, but they might lead the nation in wins in the last 10 years). I like that the Gophers were on the short list. Now land some of these other rated kids.

Kerwin Walton was at the game again last night. No signs that he's deciding any time soon but he's been to four home games I think now?

Very encouraging. Keep coming Kerwin! Locking him up would be a really solid class with momentum into '21.

Who else is in on him, that he hasn't made a decision yet? I have to think that showing up that often, he's leaning to becoming a Gopher.

Lots of schools are still on him but he wasn't ready to make a decision this fall. UNC pressured him into committing on his visit and he passed. I know Georgetown and Arkansas have been in recently to see him. I'm sure Creighton is still lingering somewhere. I think Texas, Arizona and Vandy were previously mentioned.

Lu'Cye Patterson is a kid who I'm shocked hasn't gotten an offer, though not sure the Gophers are the right fit. Wonder if dad creating a Prep school just for his kid was a factor?

Per Rivals writer guy:
... In recent #TwitterTuesday mailbags, I have been asked a number of times for the latest on Kobe King, the transfer from Wisconsin. The junior guard averaged close to 10 points and three rebounds this season, and will bring a bevy of experience and toughness to his next stop. There is a strong chance that he would be allowed to play immediately in the fall due to the reasons that led to his transfer. The programs that have reached out to him include Arkansas, Cincinnati, Colorado, Creighton, Gonzaga, Miami, Minnesota, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Xavier. He is still in the early stages of his transfer recruitment.

Re: 2020 Gophers Hoops Recruits
Mykell Robinson of Sunrise Christian is a guy to watch for the spring. Apparently has quite the motor and has a lot of schools interested in offering as they roll into the spring. Might be more of a combo forward than a true SF so this does not likely affect the Kerwin Walton recruiting.
One scholarship currently available, two likely with Oturu heading to the NBA.
Someone has transferred for the last 20+ seasons so I'm sure someone will take off.

DJ Carton entered the NCAA transfer portal Thursday, he told 247Sports, and his availability did not take long for other 13 other schools to express interest in the now-former Ohio State freshman guard. According to 247Sports director of basketball recruiting Evan Daniels, Carton has interest from the following major programs: Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Creighton, DePaul, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oregon, Seton Hall and USC.
