Any chance they sneak into the Rose Bowl yet? Let's say the cheeseballs get blown out by Ohio St again. Then what?

Simon or Patterson. I highly doubt they go external with this one. I'd guess Simon is OC, Patterson gets elevated to WR/Passing game Coordinator and they bring in a new TE coach.

His name popped up as a candidate for HC in the event Fleck were to leave.

Like many, I thought Simon earned the job. He did, kinda. He's now the co-offensive coordinator with Mike Sanford, Jr. Former head coach at WKU, former offensive coordinator at Notre Dame, Boise and Utah State. Only 37.

The fact that he's only 37 and he's been an OC at 3 stops and a head coach kind of raises some red flags, and that he took what Brohm built at WKU and got fired after only two years is another big question mark. How many places fire a coach after two seasons?

It doesnt bother me in the least. He wont be changing anything offensively (he will use the same scheme PJ already has but add some wrinkles at best) and will have Simon there to also help with the transition. Plus from the sounds of it he might be being brought in for recruiting as much as anything. (he recruits guys in Texas and California)

He is no more of a risk than Simon would be. Simon has exactly 1 game of calling plays under his belt (though he does call the plays for scrimmages and such) and people were willing to give him the job based on that without even knowing how much he was even involved in setting it all up.

PJ isn't going to hire someone who will hurt their situation...if he hired this guy there is something about him that clicked with what PJ was looking for.

Tyler Johnson has not been invited to the senior bowl...thats kind of odd, though, they say this draft is historically deep at WR.

Coughlin and Martin have been invited.

Steven Ortiz Jr., a top 300 recruit in the 2021 class is announcing his college decision tonight at 8 p.m. central time. His final three is Oregon, Minnesota, and Washington. Things seems to be trending towards Minnesota right now.

In the past, people have gotten excited about players with solid offer lists...and thats not bad, offer lists are a solid tool to judge a prospect on, but in the past, those seemed to be kids that were backup plans, or depth type players for the blue blood schools.

This Ortiz Jr kid seems different though. Like he wasn't the backup or depth plan for the likes of Oregon or Penn State, but they likely envisioned him as an impact player, and we got him. PJ continues to raise the bar. Word on this kid is that he has some really big connections to some other big time recruits.

Most assumed he was going to Nebraska being from Omaha. The Gophers now have #6 recruiting class in the nation. Unbelievable...

According to Charley Walters:
There’s already buzz that Gophers football coach P.J. Fleck is on Notre Dame’s radar should the Irish falter this year under Brian Kelly, who is to begin his 11th season in South Bend.
