I just hope the they continue to get better. MN has seen enough of new coaches coming in all fired up to only have a couple of "better years and then back to the normal shitty program and they start over again.

I see 7-2. It depends on their crossover game. If you win the west, OSU will be a difficult game.

I will be less concerned with record this year because I think we've seen some crazy results out there already from ranked teams and without making excuses Covid adds a bizarre element that is hard to evaluate.

What will be more of a key to me is do we see a total regression or they can show that the days of getting curb-stomped or losing embarrassingly are over. Can the coaching keep up and not look as if last year was a total fluke because teams didn't see it coming. Opponents aren't going to take the Gophers lightly this year.

This is not be setting up for "moral victories". But we've seen it before where this program looked like it was taking strides to finally show it could at least consistently compete with Iowa and Wisconsin, and either due to personnel, or coaching changes or some dumbfuck scandal the whole thing falls apart and they find themselves in a complete rebuild situation.

This is still a very, very young team - I just want to see that they show they have more talent, speed and size on the field than we're used to seeing on average, and the coaching staff shows it's not overmatched.

Anything less than winning the West is a failure.

Yeah, no.
Yeah, it is. It's called progress. The "very, very young team" excuse doesn't fly. The offense is all upperclassmen. The secondary has as much experience as a college football program can reasonably hope for. The only place where this team could even be close to counting on people with a lack of experience is at LB, and they only play two there 90% of the time.

Need the OL back to form if this offense is going to have anything near the same amount of success as last year.
