Gophers 14 auburn 38.

If the gophers lose this bowl game...did we have a season better than the best Glen Mason or Jerry kill seasons?

The Gophers couldn't do worse than Purdue last year. Auburn was up 56-7 at halftime and won 63-14.

So a lowest common denominator has been set....does that allow for more room to claim success where it really isn't?

No way to tell how recruiting is going until we see on field performance. All PJ guys from now on (after the bowl game).
Rankings of recruits or how they really perform is so subjective that it isn't very reliable.
Did mason and kill or gopher backers say the same thing during their one fairly good year? How did that work out for us?

-The team was picked to finish last/2nd to last in the West by 99% of prognosticators. The last time a Gophers team crushed the O/U for wins?
-Recruiting class rankings aren't very reliable yet the top programs in the country consistently have the highest rated recruiting classes?
-They didn't have only 1 legit year, but Mason's teams never put it all together, had way too many, "wtf" losses and couldn't recruit locally. PJ hasn't yet fallen into that trap but obviously it remains to be seen.

From ESPN's most interesting bowl games. This would be awesome!

7. Outback Bowl
Minnesota vs. Auburn
Jan. 1, 1 p.m., ESPN/ESPN App
Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, Florida

P.J. Fleck's mantra is "row the boat." Minnesota is playing at Raymond James Stadium. Raymond James Stadium has a giant pirate ship adjacent to the field. That can't be a coincidence. If this game doesn't end with Fleck swinging on a rope from the ship's mast like Sloth in "Goonies," we're going to be disappointed.

We're flying into Fort Myers. $224 roundtrip. They want outrages prices for Tampa.

Usually flights into RSW are more expensive than Tampa or Orlando.

Correct. I was surprised to see tickets cheaper to Fort Myers. We're flying down on the 31st.

There's still some tickets available on both sides, corner end zones and behind the benches. I believe those tickets are $175? We got tickets, lower level, corner end zone for $80.

Last year Iowa fans brought down 35 thousand seaters. The Outback wanted Iowa this season also but the NCAA commitee refused becaused it would have been 4 visits in the last 7 seasons for Iowa which is over kill.
Last year on Jan 1st Iowa beat Mississippi State there who was no pushover but I'm not sure about Auburn. They might be a lot tougher even though their fans consider this a failure of a season. If the Gophers beat them then props to them. I hope they do.

Meh. I was preparing to sell my soul to get to Pasadena, so I had no interest.
Still, it's a big time opponent, but if Frost can beat Auburn, so can Fleck.

Purdue played them last year and lost 63-14....lets hope it doesn't end up a beatdown like that..
