Scientific stuff, religious stuff, and all of the shit we don't yet know about like spooky ghosts and bigfoot.

Language and modern imagination

Post by Moses Scurry »

Ancient Aliens has made me more and more interested in our history and more specifically our lost history.

Anyway, some interesting bits on language, imagination, etc.

"Similarly, nested explanations, such as "a snake on the boulder to the left of the tall tree that is behind the hill," force listeners to use PFS to combine objects (a snake, the boulder, the tree, and the hill) into a novel scene. Flexible object combination and nesting (otherwise known as recursion) are characteristic features of all human languages. For this reason, linguists refer to modern languages as recursive languages."

There's a ton of interesting bits and pieces concerning our lost history. I used to dig deep into this stuff. Always found it hard to find where the line between reality and fantastic was.
It's been 32 years since one of MN's four major sports teams has been to the Championship/Superbowl.
Every single year is failure until we win one. 4 teams, 32 years. That's roughly 128 consecutive failed seasons.
