The hella mega tour is the Green Day/Weezer your that is listed. I’ll add the others later.

And if the Pearl Jam show is in Nashville and Saint Louis, I’m not adding it.

Matchbox Twenty sucks, but I’ll add them.

There is a new venue called the Fillmore downtown MPLS.

The Floozies ( one of my favorites ) are playing there.
Sunsquabi is the opener. They are decent.

It's going to be quite a nice time.

There were lower level tix on Groupon for KISS for $35. I suspect that means they are not selling well...
Considered it, especially since Diamond Dave is opening, but then my friend backed out.

It's been 32 years since one of MN's four major sports teams has been to the Championship/Superbowl.
Every single year is failure until we win one. 4 teams, 32 years. That's roughly 128 consecutive failed seasons.

Sorta/kinda ready to take a deeper dive into Cave and the Bad Seeds--what would be a good record to start with? I really look at Nick Cave as a 'proxy' influence--always mentioned on the youtube clips when I watch Sons of Perdition videos, or the new Anselmo project 'En Minor'. Very well respected--I just don't know a lot of his material.

I'd like to see RATM for 'old-time's sake' but I did see them 3 times back in the day, including a show at First Ave. I'm hoping to see America here in town--casual fan but I really need to start taking advantage of some of this stuff that's in my back yard.

He has had a really, really long career. It dates all the way back to The Boys Next Door, (who became The Birthday Party) an Australian band with a couple mild indie hits down under in the 70s ("Shivers," "Mutiny in Heaven," "Nick the Stripper"). They broke up in the early 80s and he formed The Bad Seeds out of the ashes.

IMHO, he hit his stride in the 80s and early 90s with The Bad Seeds. The easiest albums to get into are probably "Henry's Dream," "Let Love In," and "Murder Ballads," released sequentially between '92 and '96.

Their earlier stuff is great, but harder to get into. "The First Born is Dead" and "Tender Prey" are both excellent, but no as friendly or accessible to the ear.

I am a huge fan of the live album "Live Seeds." One of the better live albums out there, IMHO.

After Murder "Ballads," he went into kind of a crooner phase for a bit. Dark crooning, to be sure, but the songs slowed down and his vocals became central and the glorious musical dissonance of The Bad Seeds took a backseat. Since then, he's been kind of hit and miss, IMHO. He's had a few pretty lackluster albums with one or two great songs on them, IMHO. He did the Grinderman thing, which had a few good tracks, but didn't capture the controlled chaos of prime Bad Seeds stuff.

Here's a few of my favorites, starting with the accessible period I mentioned above:

Not much more I can add to what Beefy laid down, but I'll tell you a couple good albums to get started on that I liked.

My first Cave album was Tender Prey, songs like "Mercy Seat", 'Deanna', and "City of Refuge' are my faves on that one. Sugar sugar sugar is alright too.

Next is Henry's Dream, with "Papa won't leave you Henry', "I had a dream Joe', "Brother my cup is empty', and 'When I first came to town' and "John Finn's wife.' All good ones.

Then check out Let Love In, that's the pinnacle of his early stuff IMO, 'Loverman', 'Let love in', 'Do you love me', 'Thirsty Dog', hell, that whole album is good. That was 1994.

Then he released a bunch of stuff, but it wasn't until 2007-8 when Abbotoir Blues and Dig Lazerus Dig came out. I really like Dig Lazerus Dig, that whole album wails too.

He does have a lot out there, and it varies from dark, somber stuff to some real rockers. I'm hoping his concert focuses on the rocking stuff and not the somber stuff.

If you like harder stuff I suggest Nick Cave’s side project called Grinderman.

Fucking fabulous. Saw them at First Ave and women were literally throwing their panties on-stage.

Beef Supreme and Night Train--thank you for the very detailed Nick Cave responses--I'll give all that stuff a listen over the next handful of days. I will also check out the Grinderman project, as I typically lean 'heavier' when it comes to music.

I like Grinderman, but I think I like The Bad Seeds better. But the funny thing about Grinderman is that it was basically a punk band. Dude was in his 50s and started a punk band. At a time where punk music was at a real low (2006-2011), Grinderman may have been the best punk band in the world.

Cave formed the band as "a way to escape the weight of The Bad Seeds." Just to rock out a little, you know? He formed them with Warren Ellis of The Dirty Three, an instrumental folk-rock trio from Australia. Cave collaborated with them before on the utterly fantastic "Time Jesum Transeuntum" from the X-Files TV Soundtrack (not the Movie soundtrack) "Songs in the Key of X" in 1996. Check it out (sounds very little like Grinderman, but it's awesome!)

I got floor tickets for $47 + fees.

I'm strongly considering hitting up the Deftones show as well.

Tool June 6th @ Target Center. Also in Sioux Falls on June 7th and Madison, Wi on the 9th of June.

My God, as far as 'A-listers' in the rock/metal world, this year's calendar is absolutely ridiculous.

Fucking. Shit.

Godddammit. I've been looking forward to a local tool show announcement since last summer's release. Wouldn't you know it, June 6th is my wife's fucking birthday. Guess what? She doesn't really give a shit about tool.

It literally could have been any other day and I'd be going. Any. Other. Day.

Damn.

Might have to adjust the concert budget. Little cmd was mad I wouldn't take him to RATM. I could make it up to him and take him to Tool, if the money is right.
