Elton John discussion
I've been listening to a lot of Elton lately. Mostly because I just saw Rocket Man (Loved it. Go see it). I've always been an Elton John fan. Such an amazing talent that's written a shit ton of good music.
So what are your favorite Elton John songs. I'll start.
Goodbye Yellow Brick Road: Amazing melody with amazing lyrics.
Rocket Man: Again, wonderful melody. What I like about this song though is the lyrics that Bernie Taupin wrote. I'm pretty sure this song is about Elton's homosexuality which he felt the need to hide from his fans for so long. "I'm not the man they think I am at home." Obviously hiding something about his true self. "Mars ain't the kind place to raise your kids." Mars being the symbol for male.
Crocodile Rock: I mean....this is just the jam right here. How can you not be in a good mood when you hear this song.

As a metal fan, I get teased a lot about my love for Elton John. I just really like melodic music.

Honky Cat, Grey Seal, Roy Rogers, All The Girls Love Alice
His early 70's stuff is really good. Very theatrical.

Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding is the magnum opus any artist wishes they could have. Really, the first four tracks in Goodbye Yellow Brick Road are just about perfect.

Re: Elton John discussion
Elton John has lots of great early songs that I like, many of them mentioned here. I like some of these later songs too.
I guess why they call it the blues

Anyone ever hear Maynard James Keenan’s (Tool, A Perfect Circle, Puscifer) cover of “Rocket Man?”
It’s pretty good.

I have a 5 year old and a 2 year old who both love the movie "Sing" so obviously we've seen it about 500 times.
Never heard this song prior to seeing the movie, but it's one of my favorite EJ songs now. It's the only thing that lets me put the movie on for them.
