Great 90s Albums

Temple of the Dog's self titled and Mad Season's Above albums were both really good as well. Everyone probably already knows Hunger Strike and River of Deceit, but Say Hello to Heaven, Reach Down, Push Forward/Back (TotD), I'm Above, and Long Gone Day (Above) are all excellent tracks, and the albums are well done.

As much as I disliked the guy that is New Radicals, I can't disagree with you. I worked at Disc Jockey in Mankato when that came out, and it got a lot of in-store play. I wasn't really a fan of them at the time, but it was a pretty solid album. Not bad for basically one member in the band.

Also, the sole band member was a huge prick, from what I remember reading in some magazines, back then.

Monster Magnet - "Dopes to Infinity"



Just great stoner/space rock. Not metal, but very 60s psychedelic and 70s "big rock" inspired jams. These guys are still at it, though they play small venues in the states like The Cabooze. They do better in Europe, so they spend a lot more time there.

This weekend I ran into Doug Gillard of Guided By Voices at the airport. I had my new Baby Taylor guitar on my back. I guess he used to own one and it caught his eye. He asked me if he could play it and I of course said go ahead. Next thing you know I’m getting a guitar lesson.

I was floored. Fucking great surprise!

Probably an unpopular opinion, but Counting Crows' August and Everything After is a fantastic album.
