Temple of the Dog's self titled and Mad Season's Above albums were both really good as well. Everyone probably already knows Hunger Strike and River of Deceit, but Say Hello to Heaven, Reach Down, Push Forward/Back (TotD), I'm Above, and Long Gone Day (Above) are all excellent tracks, and the albums are well done.

As much as I disliked the guy that is New Radicals, I can't disagree with you. I worked at Disc Jockey in Mankato when that came out, and it got a lot of in-store play. I wasn't really a fan of them at the time, but it was a pretty solid album. Not bad for basically one member in the band.

Not trying to start a fight but I kind of think the New Radicals and their album were awful.

"You get what you give" or something like that is the only song from that record that I saved when moving all my music to a new backup device.

Can’t post the pic from my phone, but Fastball’s “All The Pain Money Can Buy” was a pretty good album.

Re: Great 90s Albums
I felt that way when it came out, and we had it playing in the store all the time. It wasn’t until a few years later I heard it again at some friend’s place that I had a little more appreciation of it. Also, the sole band member was a huge prick, from what I remember reading in some magazines, back then.Beef Supreme wrote: ↑Sat Jun 22, 2019 1:39 pm Not trying to start a fight but I kind of think the New Radicals and their album were awful.

Funny anecdote about this line from their hit song:
Fashion shoots with Beck and Hanson,
Courtney Love and Marilyn Manson
You're all fakes, run to your mansions
Come around, we'll kick your ass in.
Marilyn Manson reportedly was not upset at all that New Radicals guy said he’d kick his ass in. He was really mad however, that he was put in the same sentence with Courtney Love.

Re: Great 90s Albums
The "Not great band that you like" thread reminded me of this gem:
Monster Magnet - "Dopes to Infinity"
Just great stoner/space rock. Not metal, but very 60s psychedelic and 70s "big rock" inspired jams. These guys are still at it, though they play small venues in the states like The Cabooze. They do better in Europe, so they spend a lot more time there.

This song contains one of my favorite lyrics ever:
"In this world
Where I am king
The atoms roar
And Strangelove sings

The greatest 90's album of all time:
.
Also great:
.
Also great:
It's been 32 years since one of MN's four major sports teams has been to the Championship/Superbowl.
Every single year is failure until we win one. 4 teams, 32 years. That's roughly 128 consecutive failed seasons.

Re: Great 90s Albums
my all time fave is that red album by third eye blind
that whole thing is my summer memories as an 18, 19 year old
lots of good stuff in there - the non-radio played songs are great. not a big fan of jumper, semi charmed life, hows it gonna be.... probably my 3 least favorite on there
agreed on 40 oz by sublime - still listen to it regularily

Sublime and Fugees are great calls. I also like Wyclef's "The Carnival" although it had too many stupid little 'skit' tracks.

That’s the first time I’ve seen anyone here but me mention Guided By Voices.Slap Shot wrote: ↑Mon Jun 10, 2019 1:26 pm If we're going with some of the more underrated 90's albums a few come to mind:
Screaming Trees – Dust
fIREHOSE – Flyin' the Flannel
Smashing Pumpkins – Adore (contrary to the stupid opinions above )
Blind Melon – Soup
White Zombie - La Sexorcisto: Devil Music Vol. 1
Tripping Daisy - I am an Elastic Firecracker
The Flaming Lips - Clouds Taste Metallic
King's X - Dogman
Soul Coughing - Irresistible Bliss
REM - Automatic for the People
Faith No More – Album Of The Year
PJ Harvey – Rid of Me
Guided By Voices – Do The Collapse
Helmet - Meantime
The Afghan Whigs – Gentlemen
Morphine – Cure for Pain
Placebo – Without You I’m Nothing
Queens of the Stone Age - Songs for the Deaf
Skunk Anansie - Stoosh
Sam Phillips - Martinis and Bikinis
Frank Black - Frank Black
Grant Lee Buffalo - Mighty Joe Moon
Babes in Toyland - Spanking Machine
Matthew Sweet - Girlfriend
Kula Shaker - K
L7 - Bricks Are Heavy
Tripping Daisy - Jesus Hits Like the Atom Bomb
This weekend I ran into Doug Gillard of Guided By Voices at the airport. I had my new Baby Taylor guitar on my back. I guess he used to own one and it caught his eye. He asked me if he could play it and I of course said go ahead. Next thing you know I’m getting a guitar lesson.
I was floored. Fucking great surprise!

Re: Great 90s Albums
Probably an unpopular opinion, but Counting Crows' August and Everything After is a fantastic album.
