Song you can’t pass up

Post by Mirabelle »

What is a song when you hear it on the radio you just can’t change the station even though it’s not even really that good, but nostalgia wins out?

For me it’s Champagne Super Nova.

Comfortably Numb, A Day in the Life, Let it Be, Shattered, Sympathy for the Devil, Learning to Fly (FF and PJ), Last Dance with Mary Jane...

The list might get long.

My wife and I had a whole discussion about this song a couple years ago. I would try to find something better, but she thought it was a 'can't turn it' song. Now, it comes on almost every time we are in the car together and we always laugh about it.

I try to make my whole Spotify playlist out of songs like this. Songs that I would never want to skip.

For nostalgia, I'll go '65 Love Affair. My dad would always sing "'65 underwear" so now I sing that to my kids.

I busted out Rubberneck when I mowed the lawn on Saturday. That's a seriously fantastic album.

The Ataris do a pretty good slightly punked-out cover of “Boys of Summer.”

They change the line from “saw a Deadhead sticker on a Cadillac” to “saw a Black Flag sticker on a Cadillac,” but otherwise it’s a pretty faithful cover. Worth a listen, anyway.

"Sweet Caroline" for some reason. Not a Neil Diamond fan, but that song has some great memories.
