Iron Maiden vs Judas Priest

Who ya got? Both iconic metal bands with iconic lead singers that have stood the test of time. Both bands still have it and kick ass on tour. Maiden may have the nod in musicianship, but they both have a plethora of great music.

Pick a side!

My lean is slightly towards Maiden. I literally like everything they have done outside when Bruce took a break. Can't really go wrong with either.

I like more Maiden songs, despite not knowing a lot from either side. I guess that's the side I'd go with.

When they're both at the top of their game, it's neck and neck.

But Maiden is at the top of their game more often and their lesser songs are better than Priest's lesser songs (which are entirely forgettable).

IMHO, of course.

You can't discount the fact that Bruce Dickinson has flown the band around the world for their tours. That's pretty badass.

And he's a world class fencer and help start Iron Maiden Trooper Ale. If you haven't had any it's fantastic. 666 is even better but hard to find.

Trooper Ale with a slice of lemon in a pint glass is heaven on a summer night.

I'm starting to go through my Maiden and Priest catalog on my way to and from work. I loaded all their albums that I own on a USB. Granted Maiden has more songs but I find myself skipping through less of theirs than Priest.

I own just about every Priest and Maiden album too.

This.

And for some deep Dickinson action, check out “Scream for me Sarajevo.” You won’t be disappointed.

Yeah. Exactly. You can argue that they’re of equal importance in the history of heavy rock music, but I just think Maiden has more good songs.

I always viewed Judas Priest as cheesy metal. That British metal invasion sucked. Other than Sabbath, leave the metal to the U.S.

Maiden > Priest.

I can't really choose. Vocals are neck and neck and they both have iconic guitar duos. Priest had the catchy hooks, Maiden the epic story vibe.

Iron Maiden is British metal.

Saxon and and Motorhead are pretty good too.

If it wasn't for Priest, Iron Maiden would've never seen the light of day. Both are my bucket list, one down one to go.

Priest..

Iron Maiden over does with atmosphere with their recent music, Priest for the most part gets right to the point.

You can do that when you're still big enough to play arenas like Maiden. How about Maiden taking Priest on the road with them when Priest is subjected to play casino's with Deep Purple and playing second fiddle most nights? I saw both last fall, Priest had everyone from the time they stepped on and off, Purple IMO was along for the ride.

Since Maiden still selling out arenas and Priest is on the casino tours it sucks that they can't co-headline together. I saw Priest and Deep Purple @ TIC last fall, Deep Purple at this point should be playing VFW's or stop touring altogether. No energy without Viagra. I was almost asleep with their set. They're the Frankie Yankovic of R&R.

Iron Maiden still sells out arenas, Priest sells out casino's. The argument is dead. The truth hurts. Deep Purple was riding on the coat tails of Priest for a payday and neither have a chance to sell out an arena anytime soon. Deep Purple as much as I love them they need to stop touring. Priest has a window of 5 years and they will be Deep Purple.Just being honest. The icons we love have a shelf life. That's why I need to see Iron Maiden at the X in Aug. Bucket list before I die.

That’s harsh, ‘cause I love priest, but I think it’s true.

Iron Maiden’s second act (2000-present) is the best twilight to a band left on the scrap heap (late 90s Blaze Bailey era) in rock history. You can argue the music they’ve made since Dickinson and Smith rejoined the band is every bit as good, and more mature, as their 80s heyday stuff.

I saw them at the X two years ago and they were phenomenal. I hope they still are. Get excited, Q.

And globally, Maiden still packs mega-stadiums. I doubt they could fill US Bank stadium here, but they can get 100,000 in a soccer stadium in Brazil anytime they want. Other than The Rolling Stones, what other band of rock n roll geezers can do that?

Brazil is a sellout, always has been, even the poorest of the poor turn out for Maiden in Brazil. That's their base, they have nothing to cling to than Iron Maiden.
