Green Day blows chunks and their music is like Styrofoam rubbing against other Styrofoam.

It's been 32 years since one of MN's four major sports teams has been to the Championship/Superbowl.
Every single year is failure until we win one. 4 teams, 32 years. That's roughly 128 consecutive failed seasons.

They became too big for "Lookout Records" and made it big....took advantage of music agents for free dinners and Disneyland and found a guy they really liked at Warner Reprise.....call it what whatever you want. Maybe they sold out....but they made a successful life out of it.Qman65 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 19, 2017 2:53 amBullshit! They sold out. You still seem mad about it 23 years later. Even their old Club and the gutter punks at 924 Gilman Street got over it and has let them play there. But you are quite entitled to your opinion as am I.

Woodstock....Lolapalooza....festivals in Europe. They've played plenty of massive crowds.Qman65 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 14, 2018 11:44 pmStraight Edge Raven wrote: ↑Thu Jun 14, 2018 6:45 pm A good time in St. Petersburg.

We're happy for them, don't think they could amass a crowd like Metallica did in Red Square. I think the Red Square Monsters of Rock show had more people than the other 2 you mentioned combined.Straight Edge Raven wrote: ↑Fri Jun 15, 2018 8:15 amWoodstock....Lolapalooza....festivals in Europe. I still love the Dookie album. My friend and I got a hold of it in 3rd grade and would blast Long View.

Have always thought Tre Cool was a very underrated drummer. Doesn't seem to get the "musicians" love as such for some reason.

Re: The Green Day thread!
Not a huge fan, but they are fun. Got tickets as a highschooler for a Blink and Green Day concert, not really a big fan of either, but came away being a bigger fan.
Green Day's live performance of "King for a Day" was a riot.
And Blink's encore song of "First Date" was a good stamp on the concert.
I think you can hate and respect both bands for being sell-outs and not true punk, but also bringing punk as a defining genre of an era.

They were good when Operation Ivy was their influence. So, Pre-Nimrod and all of that stuff.bubu dubu. wrote: ↑Fri Dec 14, 2018 12:17 am Not a huge fan, but they are fun. Saw them play I believe in 1998 at Edgefest in Somerset. Awesome show even though I didn't like the band much at the time. He called a kid up on the stage to play guitar and kissed the kid on the lips. It was quite the moment because the kid was like 15 years old with a mouth full of braces. The audience went nuts.
They also sold pizzas all day and people ripped the tops off and there were hundreds of flying boxes going everywhere. It was a wild show. Apple River was quite a place back then. Hedonism. Great times!

It was a great set too to boot if you don't like the American Idiot and after era (technically Warning and after).cunningham wrote: ↑Tue Dec 18, 2018 8:18 am Saw them play I believe in 1998 at Edgefest in Somerset.
