Greatest multi-act peformer

Post by Slap Shot »

Which musical artist had the greatest sustained success being a major player in at least 2 different bands. I don't mean staying in a band that just replaced a lead singer a few times and this doesn't include someone that went solo and killed it.

For instance:

Jack White:
-The White Stripes
-The Raconteurs
-The Dead Weather

Dave Grohl:
-Nirvana
-Foo Fighters

Jimmy Page:
-The Yardbirds
-Led Zeppelin

I'll leave some of the other obvious ones for you all.

I would also consider his on and off again bromance with Pearl Jam as something worth mentioning on his behalf.

Do they count if we're not including solo acts? I know he was with Wings, but it was still "Paul McCartny and Wings."

I'd toss in James Iha- Smashing Pumpkins and APC. Not the best but he's worth a mention.

Wings first few projects were just "Wings"...
The name change came later..

With Sammy you have multiple bands..(Montrose, Van Halen, etc..)

You're forgetting Crosby and Nash were both in "Crosby & Nash".

Joe Strummer with The Clash and The Pogues. But Shane McGowan will always be THE front man for the Pogues.

You’re not wrong. Huge Dio fan.

But for him, Black Sabbath and Heaven and Hell are the same thing.
