Leon Vynehall's "Nothing Is Still" was something that struck me this year. Loved his previous work with Rojus and Music For The Uninvited. He took a different direction this time out though. Using his ear for warm and affecting samples utilized in his deep house bangers, he weaved an ambient/downtempo record with the same kind of touch. Great record.

I heard a few new ones on the Current I liked a lot. It's a bummer I can't remember their names but would know them if I heard them! The Current is good for hearing new music.

The horns really pop.

It was cool seeing it live without the horns too.

Young Gun Silver Fox. Always, always bet on whatever Shawn Lee does. 70's AM pop/rock California vibes. Just really solid songwriting throughout the record. A fun album that came out this year.

From Maryland to France. Pete Flux & Parental's Infinite Growth. Just really good hip-hop. Bring that boom bap back.

I don't understand Maynard James Keenan. If his songs are going to sound like an After School Special, then why does it take him a decade to release an album? I have an answer for you:

Laziness.

When he needs money, he craps out some passable tunes.

I don't think MJK is hurting for money. He has Puscifer, A Perfect Circle, and a day job running a couple wineries.

Alright. Well, I don't think his few and far between tunes are anything special. Maybe people just buy it automatically. I don't see the point. 10 years between albums is just silly.

Are you talking Tool albums, or albums in general? I don't really follow the other two bands much, but I know he's still been performing with them during the last handful of years. I think either this past summer, or the summer before, all three bands were on the same bill at a festival.

His entire ouvre is tiny. When I hear After School Special sounding garbage I just don't know why people care.

How does one pronounce "Puscifer". If it's like Lucifer it would be "poo-cifer". Kinda lame to adopt the "pussy" word as a man. He should've called it Beelzeboner.

Reputation, my man. People will flock because MJK is involved. Last Tool album I got was Lateralus. But, there appears to be a rabid MJK fanbase.

I post a bit of Tom Misch. But this is a great performance. A standout from Geography.

Love this song, love this album. Came out late in 2017, but I am putting this in as a 2018 album.

I thought this came out in January? Regardless. Nice pick.

I'm not sure, I get confused as the album was released in Australia Jan 2018, but I have seen in other places Dec 2017.
