I like Thomas, but he will be 30 before the season starts, and he has not played a full season since 2015. Collins is entering his prime, and could be the anchor for the secondary for the next 4-5 years.

A reincarnate of Nick Collins? Players like him do not come around very often. If you are waiting for that, you will be waiting a long time.

All these available safeties make me wonder if the safety position is dying a slow death, much like the fullback on offense. With offenses relying on spread formations and mesh routes nowadays, defenses have to counter with faster d-backs, mostly quick twitch corners with great footwork.

I think we'll start seeing a change in backfield coverage strategy as far as personnel and skills. We'll see.

Depends on the other defense's scheme. You use 17 different schemes, you better be ready.

Over 70% completion percentage on this guy. ESPN showed numerous clips of teams just going right at him in coverage last season.

But give GB credit for at least realizing they need to try and build a stout defense because a declining Rodgers can’t carry this team any longer.

So, even with those credentials and his young age, the Giants don’t want to pay big bucks to keep this guy? It’s not like they don’t need all the help they can get. That doesn’t make you wonder?

I wouldn’t think you’d want to spend big bucks on a one dimensional player at that position. But, I guess we won’t know for sure until we see what the deal ends up being.

I still give them credit for finally trying to upgrade the defense though.
