Advice and Freewill

Post by Tommy_Hawk »

I've been chewing on this concept for sometime. Why isn't free advice easily consumed, and does freewill have something to do with it?

A phrase like: "If you quit your job, and take this much of a professional risk, your life will go down the toilet"

The person considering this move and receiving this advice is left at a crossroads. Dont take the risk, or do take the risk and fail. Sometimes you have to try and fail to learn, to gain the tools to succeed your next go-around. However, the real discrepancy is not the failure, but the lack of options; the road map presentes to you.

Does this idea of knowing your fate, cause resentment towards advice, whether good or bad?

-"Take this risk. You only live once! You'll always regret it if you dont try"

Well now the person receiving the advice either has to try something uncomfortable, that they clearly aren't sure about if they are soliciting advice, or live with regret.

Would it be better to just make a decision, and go, without having a roadmap? Does this open-endedness create a more fluid journey to your destiny by eliminating hard barriers to which one must navigate?

Should one build themselves up, in all aspects of their personal life, as they wind up the inner mechanism, like a toy car. The excitment of where that car may go is reduced if said wind-up car is placed upon a track with predetermined outcomes.

What is the difference between this advice, and simple advice like: "turn your thermostat down while you are not home to reduce your heating bill"

I've been chewing on this lately.

Sir Cort Godfrey of the Nessie Alliance summoned the help of Scotland's local wizards to cast a protective spell over the lake for the peaceful existence of our underwater ally.
