Re: 2019 Gophers Hoops Recruits
I watched the first minute and saw him get by a couple of guys. What are you talking about?
I'm not setting the bar high at all, this guy is essentially signing on to backup Carr for potentially the next three years. If the concerns the last three seasons have been a lack of ball handlers/true pgs, why wouldn't people sign on for him? And for me, the shooting is key. You can put a shooter out there whenever. If he's a shooter, great.
My overall concern is maintaining scholarships for the 2020 class.

Re: 2019 Gophers Hoops Recruits
Right!?!?! I saw him blow past many guys in the first minute or so then stopped watching. These AAU tournaments are hard to gauge, other than I can see the kid has a good stroke, sees the floor well and hand blow past people. I would be a good get and a nice spring for Pitino.HeHateMe wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2019 11:03 amI watched the first minute and saw him get by a couple of guys. What are you talking about?

Re: 2019 Gophers Hoops Recruits
I just disagree. When someone wanted to play D on him, they could. He pushes left or pushes right and has to make a difficult shot to finish (which he did). No crossover or quick first step. It's a short, poorly produced highlight reel - who knows.HeHateMe wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2019 11:03 amI watched the first minute and saw him get by a couple of guys. What are you talking about?

I guess I don't know what you're looking for... yeah, it's a highlight tape from AAU ball. To me the bigger story is about his numbers -- it looks like he can really hit from outside and his handle looks fine. These are areas they need plus he's coming in as a backup!Ask Not wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2019 8:37 amI just disagree. When someone wanted to play D on him, they could. Re: 2019 Gophers Hoops Recruits
There's way too much time spent on this kid, but some of the initial posts here suggested this is a lucky find. To me he looks like a guy who transfers after his freshman year because he didn't get any playing time.HeHateMe wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2019 9:30 amI guess I don't know what you're looking for... yeah, it's a highlight tape from AAU ball. Maybe that is what happens, but given the point guard woes, why not grab him? Pitino has struck out on so many guards (in recruiting) and then the ones he has gotten:Ask Not wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2019 9:47 amThere's way too much time spent on this kid, but some of the initial posts here suggested this is a lucky find. Dre Mathieu
Nate Mason
Jarvis Johnson
Kevin Dorsey
Isaiah Washington
Marcus Carr
that's it! two of those guys haven't logged a minute. 6 years and that's all he's recruited for true point guards.

Not sure what exactly made that ship sail but definitely seemed like the two sides moved on fairly quick after he was talking about coming to visit here.

Re: 2019 Gophers Hoops Recruits
I think the Gophers are in a tough spot with any potential PG. Marcus Carr is the guy and unless they're comfortable with backup minutes or playing off the ball, what's the point... I think he ends up with Cincy. Looks like they lost several guards so minutes should be easy to come by there.

Re: 2019 Gophers Hoops Recruits
Sounds like Cincy got a guard back that was flirting with the draft? With Coffey expecting to go pro, you'd think Adams-Woods would have a good shot at some minutes here next year. I would expect Pitino to roll with three guard lineups quite often if you're counting Tre Williams as a guard. Maybe Michael Hurt starts at the 3 but I don't think he'll be in the top 5-6 players for minutes.

Ryan Woolridge is ranked #37 on Jeff Goodman's grad transfer rankings list...
37) Ryan Woolridge, 6-3, 175, PG, North Texas
Stats: 11.7 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 4.8 apg
Scout’s take: “Elite speed, great defender both on and off the ball. He finds the open guy and is a good finisher.”

I would think a grad transfer would be foaming at the mouth to come here to play big guard minutes, no Coffey and no Pree. Woolridge would help out a bunch.

I'm foaming at the mouth if they can land him. Much more ideal the taking on players who will here for more than a year -- we need scholarships open for the 2020 and 2021 class.full force five wrote: ↑Mon Jun 03, 2019 8:14 am I would think a grad transfer would be foaming at the mouth to come here to play big guard minutes, no Coffey and no Pree. I think Woolridge would still potentially come off the bench but he'd play 25-28 minutes a game for sure, the minutes Carr isn't in the game and play some where he and Carr can both play off the ball a bit. Woolridge isn't a great shooter but I don't think Coffey or McBrayer were great either … if you can hit at a 30-33 percent clip, you should be fine in the big ten. Not great but not terrible.
