Interesting to see MN connected to him more so than Gresham. Hazzard will pick Arizona or Gonzaga, you'd think, over MN.
Agreed, especially since he's a west coast kid (Los Angeles). Those programs might actually have more playing time available than us if Sherfield commits and Coffey stays.
I knew I recognized Hazzard. I'm seeing tweets from 2014 that they were recruiting him. He was a 2015 recruit like Hurt, Coffey and Curry.

Sherfield will announce today. Sounds like Wichita St is the winner.

Gophers will go hard after Gresham and Hazzard though both have good options.

That's a tough blow. I wonder how we went from him wanting to commit on his visit and being the favorite to losing out to a very average Wichita State team? Maybe there's more immediate playing time at WSU.

We really need some good news with Demir and Ihnen visiting this weekend.

Home school (WSU), stable coaching situation. Better weather?

Stanford, Bryant, Northern Illinois, Fordham and Minnesota are the latest to become involved with Texas A&M-CC grad-transfer guard Kareem South, a source tells @Rivals

Looks like there is talent there, it might be raw but he has a big body. I think him and Freeman could for sure use a year to watch and learn. Depth guys behind Curry/Oturu/Omersa/grad transfer PF.

This would be great -- sounds like Max Hazzard is focused on Arizona.

Do you know anything about South? Do we have a shot with him or are we still in the "trying to set up a visit" phase?

All I keep thinking about is the failure of Pitino to get any of this years top Minnesota players.....

Nnaji/Hurt... sucks you can't keep them home.

I think Wahl / Williams is likely a wash.

Tyrell Terry wasn't coming here once Pitino landed Marcus Carr. I don't know who is better, we'll find out next year.

David Roddy would have been a nice get but he wasn't a starter immediately like Oturu, Coffey, Kalscheur, etc

Trying to set up a visit. I saw Texas A&M, Stanford and Oregon state have called on him. Tons of mid majors are after him... Utah St, Colorado St, Loyola, Murray St. etc

Sounds like Kareem South and Marcus Carr played AAU together in Canada?

I know South is from Canada, don't know much about any connections -- sounds like he will eventually visit the Gophers. Would be a nice pickup.. I do think (especially if Coffey is gone), there will be a lot of three guard lineups.

This take from 247Sports seems right on.

Chances for the Gophers. At this point I’m told South is still finding out what college programs have interest and then from there, which program will have the most opportunity/playing time available. Right now Minnesota has one true ball handler on the roster (Marcus Carr) and three 6-foot-4 wings (Tre’ Williams, Payton Willis, Gabe Kalscheur). At this point the only proven three point shooter that Minnesota has is Kalscheur and this year they were without a true ball pressure defender. Seeing that Minnesota needs a ball handler, a shooter, and an active guard defender, you could see Kareem South having a chance to play big minutes at Minnesota.

I don't want to copy and paste what he told Ryan James but he wants to set up visits within the next week and he's looking at coming to Minnesota for a visit. Says he's been talking to the staff the past few days.

Matthew Hurt commits to Duke with his brother sitting next to him wearing a Gopher warm-up. Weird setup.

Demir's visit went well -- commitment might be coming soon. Always dangerous though if he takes another visit.

We need to lock him up because I don't know if there's a good back-up plan. Sounds like Shakur Juiston is hearing from everyone around the country.

Super excited about this pickup. He's ranked #89 overall in the class of 2019 on 247. He had some big schools after him. I think he can contribute right away.

Hoping for some good news on Demir!

Class is now ranked the 5th in the Big-10. Long, athletic wing who can play and defend multiple positions. Much needed pick-up. Will probably start at the 3 if Coffey doesn't return.

Wouldn't a little depth be a nice change? To get more than zero points off the bench would be something nice and new.
