strasburg will start for nationals in the must-win game. can he deliver the goods? stay tuned-first pitch in an hour and 12 minutes.

Stephen Strasburg's brave decision to pitch on full rest in an elimination game must be such an inspiration to the sniffly, moldy Nats.

Ya gotta love it!!!
Lester is so bad at throwing to 1st, it actually resulted in him picking someone off.
The throw was 4' off the bag, but the 1st baseman was able to tag the leg of the runner..if it was on target....the runner would've made it back.
Understand.. this was after his 1st throw bounced 10' short.

Not sure about this move....
Bringing in Davis.
Yes, he is your best RP....but he has tendency over his career when the team is behind.

I hope I'm wrong.

Is that just rain?
When they did a dugout shot, there was "white" on the railing...

Kendricks to start game 5 for the Cubs tomorrow. Hope he pitches like game 1 and the damn bats wake up. I guess Davis is human. Damnit.

Indians for 2 seasons in a row have choked away a 2 game lead with a chance to win a series. Ouch.

a very disappointing end to the season for the tribe. and when you add what happened last year to this year's failure i would suspect that the fan base isn't taking this too well. you have the odds on favorite to win the cy young award on the mound in an elimination game in your own stadium and don't get it done? that cy young award is going to feel like a pyrrhic victory for the organization and the fans. they were lucky to even get a game 5 and they didn't take advantage of it. you have to win that game. now i have to hope that houston brings their bats and some good pitching to the next series. girardi given a reprieve with that comeback though.

another game 5 tonight. will dusty get a reprieve too?

Joe Girardi gets redemption

The New York Yankees technically beat the Cleveland Indians three games to two in their best-of-five series, but it sure felt like they beat them four games to one. That was on Joe Girardi, of course, who today has to feel more relieved than he ever has been. Relieved because, if the ball had bounced a few different ways over the past several days and if the Indians had won, Girardi would be the biggest goat in New York sports in years. Maybe ever. He might even be out of a job.

Corey Kluber falls flat (again), Indians fall short in stunning ALDS loss to the Yankees -- Bud Shaw

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Reminder: Corey Kluber was the AL Pitcher of the Month in September.

Thought you might've forgotten.

In October, he looked more like the struggling minor leaguer they traded for in 2010.

In a series full of crushing contradiction, Kluber was the biggest head scratcher. He'll be the main talking point - once Indians fans can actually talk about this -- until the memory of what happened in this series, won by the Yankees in five games, is pushed into the background by a World Series parade.

No regular season excellence can do that now. Not even a 103-win season. Not even a 23-game winning streak.

This was too shocking to get over anytime soon and certainly not between April and September. It will take a World Series (for the sake of heart patients everywhere, preferably one the Indians don't lead 3-1) to do that.

That was the endgame in 2017. The World Series title that slipped away last season. The Indians were over-achievers then. They were favorites this time. They were 102-game winners who established an AL record for consecutive wins.

They were favorites, in part because a deep pitching staff featuring Kluber on full rest. Then Kluber fell flat twice. The benefit of the doubt in Game 2 was rust. Scratch that now.

The Nationals remind me of the Cubs when Dusty managed them. Murphy's law with Dusty.

Love the Cubs toughness. Keep it going in LA. Get a split and come home.

I called in game #4 Davis' Achilles heel,....but in game #5 he showed why he is the best RP of this era.
The first RP ever to record a save of 7 or more outs in MLB postseason.
(Been done 2 other times, but they were starters that came out of the BP)

Want to solve the Twins closer issue? 2 FAs.....Holland and Davis are both out there this offseason.

2-0 Astros in the 6th...
Keuchel has 8 Ks already.

Announcer brought up a player I hadn't thought about in a long time...Jim Rice.

He was for a period of time simply amazing!
I don't know if in baseball history a team had 2 better rookies than Boston had with Rice and Lynn.

He scores on something you gotta see to believe.

As I'm watching Kate Upton cheering on Verlander.....
I'm suddenly aware that he is the guy.

Amazingly successful athlete.
Rich,
and Kate Upton.

Its a pretty good life to be Justin.
