Where will the Twins be in the Standings Sept 1

Post by D_B_U »

Negativity is super high at the moment(rightfully so), but look at the schedule... We have some very easy games coming up.

17 games in August left
@ Milwaukee-2 games (Mil 62-57)
@ Rangers- 4 games (Tex 59-59)
White Sox- 3 games/ @ White Sox- 3 games (CHI- 52-64)
Tigers- 3 games/ @ Tigers- 2 games(technically 4 but 2 in August). (DET- 35-80)

Left in August we have 11 games against teams with losing records. 4 with a team at .500 and 2 with a team over .500

Combined record for teams in August- 208-260/ 44% WP

Compared to the Indians:
17 games in August left
Boston- 2 games- 62-59
@ New York Yankees- 4 games- 79-41
@ New York Mets- 3 games- 61-57
Kansas City- 3 games 43-76
@ Detroit - 3 games- 35-80
@ Tampa Bay- 2 games( technically 3 but 2 in August)- 70-50

350-363/ 49% WP

I honestly think this team will get some MOJO back and will end up on top of the division come September.

So, what say you all?

I predicted 1-4 games back of the Indians.

I think the Twins are what they are at this point. It wouldn't surprise me if they both play close to .500 ball over this span.

It should be very close no matter who is at the top.

Now if you asked me what the difference would be when the regular season is over? I'm taking Cleveland by 4+

We are lucky that they play Tampa. Although I think home field in the Wildcard is unlikely. I only wonder if the Twins or the A's are heading to Tampa for the Wildcard.

The next few weeks we have to make hay.
As you mentioned
11 games in a row against the Sux and Tigers to end August. (2 more to start sept with det but this is for sept)

If what should happen happens, Twins will be up a few games.

Not going to go as in-depth, but to your point.. to finish the year up:

Cleveland-
Sept schedule- Tampa Bay Rays(1), Chicago White Sox(7), Minnesota Twins(6), Los Angeles Angels(3), Detroit Tigers(3), Philadelphia Phillies(3), Washington Nationals(3)

Minnesota
Sept Schedule- Detroit Tigers(5), Boston Red Sox(3), Cleveland Indians(6), Washington Nationals(3), Chicago White Sox(3), Kansas City Royals (7)

I understand. I just don't think this team is that good. Indians are the better team imo.

Gleeman showed a stat today where the Twins have the worst win probability in the majors when it comes to their pen. Their starting rotation is also poor and many are saying Rodgers arm is going to be fried with all of his use.

I think the Twins play a bit over .500 to finish the year.

I think the Indians will play better than that. One team has the easier schedule but the other team is better imo.

If they play .500 ball with only 3 series remaining against non-central teams, then yes they’ll be behind. I can’t see even a buxtonless pinedaless Perez reliant team not winning 70%+ of the det and KC games.

It really comes down to the 6 head to head match ups.

The Twins bullpen has been rough but I also expect much more out of the bats the next time we play the Indians.

The reason the Indians struggled earlier was because their bats were asleep. Those have awoken.

It will be close near the end but I do think that this will come down to the last week and the Indians are going to start to tire a bit. They have played amazing baseball for the last two months and eventually they will cool.

Brad Hand has struggled as of late.

Twins HAVE to take advantage of the easier schedule. In the 15 games in Sept against DET, CWS and KC I think they need to go like 12-3 or something crazy... Cant give away anything.

today sucked, but a road split isn't a disaster. NEED minimum split in Arlington but really could use a series win.

Leading by right around 4. We are just in a freaky streak of blowing games right now. Won't last. Cle has no chance of staying as hot as they were since June.

Leading 1 to 4
It's been 32 years since one of MN's four major sports teams has been to the Championship/Superbowl.
Every single year is failure until we win one. 4 teams, 32 years. That's roughly 128 consecutive failed seasons.

The option with no votes is looking at least plausible if not likely right now.

Indians play Detroit and we have Gialito again so will be tough to hold or gain any more this series but then we have tigers and they have the rays to close out the month.

5 games left for both teams in August.

Twins up 3.5, so at worst they would be down 1.5 games. At best, up 8.5.

I sort of assume it will be around 4.5

I think the Twins go 4-1 and Indians go 3-2(They have the Rays).

Big test comes Sep 6-Sep 15.

Twins have 6 against Cleveland and 3 against Washington.

+4.5 heading into tomorrow....4 or more had zero votes in the poll...trailing Cleveland by 4 or more had 6 votes....basically a 9 game swap....bunch of cynical butts on this board....it's a sad case..."Pleasure actually causes them pain and gives them discomfort.
