---------------

EDIT: "Max Kepler helped the Twins to a new MLB record on Friday after swatting a second-inning, three-run home run off of the White Sox’ Dylan Cease. With the homer, the Twins reached the 200-HR threshold — not only becoming the first team to do so in 2019, but the fastest in any Major League season to date." Jul 26, 2019
https://mlb.nbcsports.com/2019/07/26/tw ... threshold/

---------------

EDIT: And another record bites the dust:
Tonight is Jonathan Schoop's fifth multi-HR game as a second baseman this year, tied for the second most in a season in MLB history.

---------------

EDIT: And another record broken:
weimy froob wrote: Thu Aug 29, 2019 2:09 pm
---------------

EDIT: And two more records go down in the same game. Most players to have 20 plus home runs and dun Dun DUN! #1 ALL TIME TEAM HOMERUN RECORD IN A SEASON!

---------------

EDIT: Another day, another HR record broken. Twins now have the most homeruns in a season by Catchers.

---------------

EDIT: Once against, Twins break a record in 2019. Five players with 30+ homeruns.

It's been 32 years since one of MN's four major sports teams has been to the Championship/Superbowl.
Every single year is failure until we win one. 4 teams, 32 years. That's roughly 128 consecutive failed seasons.

From taking a quick glance, it doesn't seem like hitting a lot of HRs does much for post season success

This! I'll take 6 months of dingers even if it doesn't translate into a Series winner. Gotta figure the juiced balls won't fly as far when the cold winds of October AND November come callin, but if ya can't enjoy what's happenin right now then I feel for ya!

Going, going, GONE!!!!

well sure it mostly comes down to having at least 1 true ace, and really 3 top end guys.

but, it def helps get you to the PS and sure doesn't hurt win games there either:

2018: playoff teams HR rank
BoSox...9 (Champs)
LAD...2 (Runner up)
Hou...10
Brewers...4
Yankees...1
Indians...6
Rockies...8
Braves...19
A's...3
Cubs...22

so 8/10 playoff were in the top 10 HR teams.
the other two, Cubs and Braves...Cubs lost int he WC play in game and Braves lost 3-1 to LAD. Cubs had a top 3 pitching staff

the other top ten HR teams, Toronto and LAA had below league average pitching

Tied with Anaheim on that list, now. They could pass the 2018 Yankees before Sept. 1.

on pace for 54 this month (27 through 14 games, 14 games remaining). Getting Cruz back soon and if Polanco can find his stroke..we are going to just crush it

They could end up with 9 players at 20 or more HR's.

Cruz, 32
Kep, 32
Rosario, 27
Garver, 23
Sano, 22
Cron, 19
Polanco, 17
Schoop, 16
Gonzo, 14

Gonzo might be a bit of a long shot, but I think he'll keep getting playing time, and his HR's come in bunches. I wouldn't be surprised to see him hit a couple in this Texas series.

Looks like we're probably going to fall short of another 50 home run month. Currently at 32

https://www.baseball-reference.com/team ... &year=2019

Edit: looks like it hasn't updated since yesterday so we'd actually be at 35 home runs.

Man I couldn't have been more wrong about Sano. :?

He technically doesn't have enough pa to qualify but his ab/hr rate would be 3rd in the entire league with only Trout and Bellinger ahead.

Mitch Garver has a higher rate per at bat!

Sano
