Average Joe Mauer season:

9 HR
60 runs
55 RBIs

LoLololo
Yet he's in the Twins HOF and might have a shot at the big HOF.

Bummer bro.

#Trump2020 #Mauer2023
Doesn't take much to get in the Twins Hall. Stick with the team for a decade+ and show up on the caravan, twins fest and enjoy the complimentary cup of Kemps Butter Brickle with Dorthy and Agnes.

Bingo

if the great Thurman Munson's not in Hall of Fame little Joey isn't even coming close

7× All-Star (1971, 1973–1978)
2× World Series champion (1977, 1978)
AL MVP (1976)
AL Rookie of the Year (1970)
3× Gold Glove Award (1973–1975)
New York Yankees captain (1976–1979)

anyone that thinks Joe Mauer is even getting a little bit of consideration by the Hall of Fame voters is kidding themselves

Joe's sore legs probably wouldn't even allowed him to board that plane.

C'MON! What is going on here. Everyone bitched about this guy. It was one of the worst professional sports contracts ever and now suddenly he is loved?

My ex called me crying after watching this. When things were at there worst we could always fall back on baseball for a good night.

She says she saved the ceremony so I could watch it.
It's been 32 years since one of MN's four major sports teams has been to the Championship/Superbowl.
Every single year is failure until we win one. 4 teams, 32 years. That's roughly 128 consecutive failed seasons.

Are you going to back slide? I've been there. I can't say that baseball was the reason for me ever hooking up with an ex though.

Career WAR by Catchers:

1. Bench 75.2
2. Carter 70.1
3. I. Rodriguez 68.7
4. Fisk 68.5
5. Piazza 59.6
6. Berra 59.8
7 Dickey 58.4
8. Mauer 55.0

Based on any statistical analysis, Mauer is a Hall of Famer.

on the thurman munson point-i'm surprised there hasn't been more of a push to put him in the hall. before he died he was considered along with fisk the best catcher in the AL and he had his career cut short by the tragic accident.

can anybody shed any light on this?

It sounds like HOF voters undervalued catchers during his time. Everyone was compared to Bench. He was tracking a HOF career before the tragedy. Now you see undeserving guys like Harold Baines and Lee Smith make it while other get lost.

7× All-Star (1971, 1973–1978)

AL MVP (1976)
AL Rookie of the Year (1970)
3× Gold Glove Award (1973–1975)
New York Yankees captain (1976–1979)

Munson had a career .357 batting average in the postseason with three home runs, 22 RBI and 19 runs scored. His batting average in the World Series was .373. Munson threw out 44.48% of base runners who tried stealing a base on him, ranking him 11th on the all-time list.

Anyone that thinks Joe Mauer is even getting a little bit of consideration by the Hall of Fame voters is kidding themselves. Not going to happen kids. Hall of Fame voters know he looked for any reason to take a game off whenever he could and sat out an entire year with a made-up injury called bilateral leg weakness. LoLololo His astounding lack of work ethic will work against him as well. His body looked the same from a muscular standpoint going out of baseball as he did coming in. Fn pathetic and inexcusable. If he was in any other City he would have been booed out of town.

I think his concussions were hidden from the public and that alone derailed his career. I think you're wrong about Mauer and the HOF chances. I'm not saying he's in but he will get very close. The case for looking at value with players is more important with the new baseball writers. That alone may get him in.

Dude I don't know what to tell you , he's not sniffing the Hall of Fame. If Thurman Munson who played for the New York Yankees is not in the Hall of Fame with the credentials I listed above , Joe Mauer's not even getting consideration. Just a fact. You can make a better case for Bill Freehan being in the Hall of Fame player. You can add Ted Simmons, and Joe Torre to that list as well. Joe Mauer & the Hall of Fame.... that just is not happening, you should as just accept it.

LoLololo
No chance

if the great Thurman Munson's not in Hall of Fame little Joey isn't even coming close

7× All-Star (1971, 1973–1978)
2× World Series champion (1977, 1978)
AL MVP (1976)
AL Rookie of the Year (1970)
3× Gold Glove Award (1973–1975)
New York Yankees captain (1976–1979)

I believe this articles sums up my opinion. You might want to accept that it might happen.
