What do you expect from Bumgarner?
don't really know what to expect from him. i do know what i'd be hoping for though. you?
I don't care much about regular season. I would hope we get a few good playoff starts and maybe helps out the playoff inexperienced staff a little.

Yankees had the prorated qualifying offer (11M-12M) for Keuchel on table for a week plus but never came off it.

Yankees and Twins are so cheap!!! :)

That’s not a lot for a decent SP. Is he the guy who won the Cy Young years ago? No. But does he add depth to a rotation and kick out Pineda? Yes.
They're really likely to win the division without him, so what's the point? Does he help you get by the Yankees or Astros? Those lineups aren't really friendly toward soft-tossing lefties. Save the money for guys who can make a difference in the playoffs.
we'll never know if he could have given the team a strong game 3 or game 4 start. berrios gave the team pretty much everything they really needed last night-minus one or two more innings. i'd still like to see him in a game two though. so hopefully they're still in the market for a blockbuster move for scherzer or the equivalent. i don't really think greinke is that though. who else is out there that might fill the bill?
You don't fully know who's going to be available yet. There's a lot of time left before the deadline and a lot can change in the next 7 weeks. That's about 50 games per team. What happens in those 50 games will alter the direction of a lot of teams. I equate being in on Kimbrel and Keuchel to needing a new TV about 2 weeks before Black Friday. Sure, you can spend $300 bucks on a 55-inch Westinghouse right now, but why not try and make do for a bit to see what kind of deal you can get on Samsung or LG?

I really wanted them to get the guy with no strikeout pitch, reduced velocity and an increasing flyball rate in the juiced ball era.
Fuck, I say.

Was worth a fucking shot for that amount and giving up nothing.
No kidding. if he completely sucks then who cares? It's only a one year deal.

i can only think/hope that they're looking for somebody even better.

I thought the opposite. I wanted him to pitch for the Yankees and get his shit pushed in while pitching in that abomination of a stadium.

The guy has nothing left. His best numbers at his age are about on par with Kyle Gibson.

Watch what happens to him in Atlanta. Please do. If he kills it, great. But he's not going to.
Is everyone living in 2015? Kimbrel/Kuechel are not the same players now.
would they have helped the team?

yes or no?

The question is would a different closer/starter help them more and I would say yes.

If that were true, he would not be signing a 1 year deal for $13 million.

That might be all that he wanted this year was a one year deal. Dallas would have been an upgrade to Pineda and more than likely Perez. I would rather get bullpen help first over a started but i do think its crucial that we get an Ace type pitcher and a Legit Closer to go out and give us that scoreless inning.

He's better than any pitcher the Twins have in their rotation. Berrios is right there but the rest don't have anything on Keush.

Every single MLB GM would take Odorizzi over Keuchel right now without giving it a second thought.

Nobody knows what you're getting from Keuchel. Pretty much every team passed on Keuchel this year. Maybe that's motivation for him to prove everyone wrong.

Was always gonna take a few games for him and Kimbrel to get going. They both came into the season with the disadvantage of no spring training, and other teams being in mid-season form.

And they have the advantage of hitters not having much fresh video to go on.

What?! These are guys with nearly two decades between the two of them in experience. What is 'fresh video' going to give teams? Opponents know how these guys pitch already.

Kuechel is better then any Twins starter not named Berrios. I never understood the hate in here.
