CJ Cron - with him for rest of teh year

Post by BBG »

I forgot what it felt like to have a legit, big stick, big dick, first baseman who can knock the ball around and take quality at bats.

Image

This lineup is deep AF with Cruz, Martin, Ed, and now Buxton is the player we hoped.

Watch Cron put up 28 dongs and 88 RBI

If Kiriloff is healthy, he's on this team and taking ABs from him by August at the latest. Cron was just a scrap heap signing. If he continues his success, I'll eat crow.

But he's always been a mid teens guy for Home Runs. Suddenly, last year, he goes to a dome and hits 30. If we were in the Metrodome still, he might be an interesting signing, as it is, he's just a guy and easily replaced.

Cron is fine. A pretty average 1B that will knock 25-30 over the fence while playing mediocre defense and hitting for a mediocre BA. I have no issue with him especially since he was a waiver claim. He's an upgrade over Austin who is the other real option for regular playing time at the position.

The first syllables of his first and last name don't offer the distinct alliteration compared to those of Logan Morrison tho.

He doesn't take a first-pitch meatball down the middle of the plate like Mauer.... but he'll have to do.

Lo-Mo was the same kind of signing. He just didn't have anything left in the tank. Cron does.

My guess is we'll see some long stretches where Cron strikes out a bunch, but overall I think we should be happy havin him here....I think 20+dingers and 75+ rbi's is a sure thing if he stays healthy.....I'm ok with that!

See how a legit first baseman can change the entire identity of a lineup

Halfway to 20 already. He's been a shrewd move thus far. Much more then I expected from a guy who was DFA last November.

Yes, we're all missing those awe shucks, lazy singles into the opposite field. Who would want someone who drives the ball and generates runs?!? Yuck!

Not sure I understand the lack of love for a legit big dick stick when the same "fans" drooled over such flops like Trevor Plouffe and Logan Morrison
