Re: Buxton
Beeks hasn't really established himself as a major league pitcher yet, so taking him deep isn't exactly a huge accomplishment.
I do hope Buck's confidence can be positively affected by this though.

Re: Buxton
I'm not sure he'll ever "breakout" but I still think he can be a serviceable hitter. That's all you need from him because he's elite in the field. I'd be super happy if he hit .240 this year with a .320 OBP, and I could live with .220 and a .300 OBP.

Re: Buxton
He got MVP votes and had a monster 2nd half 2 seasons ago. That was his breakout. Last year was a step back (probably 2 steps). Now he needs to bounce back. If he can just hit .270/.330/.430 he's damn near MVP level with his defense. He can do it.

Sano is a stud. We should all have high expectations. A top talent in all of baseball.
Buxton just doesn't look the part.

Re: Buxton
I'd really like to see these two turn into all-stars. Then I can see them win a World Series on some other team because the Twins were too cheap to keep their own talent when they became top dollar players.
It's been 32 years since one of MN's four major sports teams has been to the Championship/Superbowl.
Every single year is failure until we win one. 4 teams, 32 years. That's roughly 128 consecutive failed seasons.

Re: Buxton
He needs to cut down on the strikeouts bigtime before I'd be willing to make this declaration about him. His approach in 2015 as a rookie was better than his approach was in 2018.Sergeant Rubetube wrote: ↑Sun Feb 24, 2019 2:13 pmSano is a stud. We should all have high expectations. Sano has Miguel Cabrera type potential, but he seems to be swinging more like Adam Dunn these last few seasons. We'd be lucky if he ever hit Dunn's level, but he doesn't seem to realize his real potential. He is to the Twins what Andrew Wiggins is to the Wolves. All world talent, knuckle head brain and ethic.Sergeant Rubetube wrote: ↑Sun Feb 24, 2019 2:13 pmSano is a stud. We should all have high expectations. A top talent in all of baseball.

I get excited about preseason base ball like I get excited about the NFL draft. No one knows how things will work out.

My buddy and I were recently talking about the underperforming players with potential in MN reaching their peaks.bubu dubu. wrote: ↑Sun Feb 24, 2019 10:50 pmSano has Miguel Cabrera type potential, but he seems to be swinging more like Adam Dunn these last few seasons. When it comes to Buxton, Sano, and Wiggins, I'd rank them in that order in terms of reaching star level production.

Re: Buxton
I haven't posted on here in months and for the first time since Target Field was built I didn't go to a single game. That said I'm strangely optimistic about the new coach.
Buxton hands down my favorite but even I'm pessimistic about him making it... hope he does because his speed and defense is worth the price of admission... just needs to hit at least .250

Those are pretty impressive projections for a guy who swings at nearly 40% of balls thrown outside the strike zone. In reality, he just needs to hit .220-.240 in order to be a plus player. I will be amazed if he ever achieves .270/.330/.430 for an entire season. Hope he does.
Buxton can be a valuable asset if he can just go from awful at the plate to just below avg at the plate.

Re: Buxton
It's just Spring Training, but Buxton is 5-5 with 2 HR and 10 RBI right now in 5 PAs. It might be happening.
