Isn't Rooker likely a trade chip at the deadline? I would prefer he continue to rake in Triple AAA and keep his value at it's highest.

Nice to see Royce Lewis putting some nice games together. Also, sure looks like Rooker is making a case for himself to get a look at some point this year.

It looks like it is time for Larnach to move up to AA. Kirilloff and Larnach in the same lineup is worth getting excited over.

Also, does anybody know when Cavaco starts at rookie ball? He signed a while back right? It will be fun to watch him and Urbina (also 17) go through the ranks as highly touted prospects.

No idea who he was, but this thread made me look into him...Very interesting story, that will get fans on his side if he makes it to the MLB...

https://gazette.com/sports/air-force-gr ... fd633.html

My summary of the article so no one has to read through the whole thing, but you still should. Fun story that also includes a teammate of his who had a 44 game hit streak who is going through a similar situation. Main difference is his teammate wasn't drafted, so he's stuck.

Drafted in the 12th round out of highschool by Philly in 2012, but decided not to sign, went to Air Force and was drafted by the Twins in 2016 in the third round. At that time, the DoD decided that graduates could immediately pursue professional sports...so he signed with the Twins for about $600K. Then, right before he graduated, the DoD reversed its policy, saying graduates pursuing professional sports needed to serve at least two years of active duty...basically, he's fucked. He can't play professionally until his active duty is up.

Then this thing called "The World Class Athlete Program" came up, which states that a world class athlete can train for the Olympics, as long as the Olympics is two years out or under. As fate had it, baseball magically comes back to the Olympic games after 8 years of absence, and in 2018, it opened up the door for Jax to apply to be in "The World Class Athlete Program"...he could then resume his training with the Twins...well, almost. There is a rule where active air-force cannot receive a second source of income, and the MLB cannot allow players to play for them, or their affiliates without being paid...it took a few months, but MLB and the Air Force came to some legal agreement where the Twins can outfit, feed and cover Jax's travels, but the military has to pay him (still unclear if the Air Force pays him the $600K he signed for). He is technically based in Florida by the Military, but somehow allowed to live wherever the Twins assign him. He is still active military.

End of article summary, but on with sports...and also keeping it local

There is a similar situation brewing with the Vikings. The Vikings selected Austin Cutting, a long snapper from Air Force in the NFL draft. American Football is not part of the Olympics, so Cutting would not qualify for "The World Class Athlete Program". His situation is up in the air. The two sides of the spectrum right now, is one saying that Cutting should be allowed to pursue his NFL career, and it would serve the military by showing athletes can succeed there. The other side saying that he made a commitment, and needs to fulfill his two year commitment of active duty.

That Josh Winder guy's surface number look nice.
Is there any potential there?
It's been 32 years since one of MN's four major sports teams has been to the Championship/Superbowl.
Every single year is failure until we win one. 4 teams, 32 years. That's roughly 128 consecutive failed seasons.
