He could be a solid setup man. Something to be aware of. His Velo dropped a full mph last season, and his swinging strikes % dropped from 13.8% in 2017 to 10.8% in 2018. Another pitch to contact reliever.

if you're aware of that do you think the twins FO is/was? your info has potential red flag waving all over it.

The first indication should have been the non tendered by the Angels. They could have retained him and took a hard pass. He could bounce back, but more often then not, this means he's cooked.

The velocity thing is misleading. It dropped last year like you said, but just to the level it had been at his entire career. 2017 was an outlier. As for being pitch to contact, he Ks more than 10 per 9 innings in his career and was over 9 last year even with the numbers you mentioned. He's a solid 7th/8th inning option. Can never have too many of those guys.

Agreed.

Like I said, I'm more concerned with the fact that LAA non tendered him. It's not like they have a bevy of RP's. The other stats are just something to be aware of.

I don't know LAAs life. Seems like a shaky decision to non-tender a healthy and generally reliable BP arm. Maybe they had 40 man issues or didn't want to pay him $3 million plus. We'll see how it works out. Could be a steal for the Twins.

Good signing but we still need more pitching.
