Know NOTHING about this guy but his stats look pretty decent....makes one wonder why he's available for such a seemingly reasonable deal. There goes the "Dozier back to Minnesota" talk!

Milwaukee non-Tendered him.
26 years old. Doesnt walk a ton. Can hit the long ball. good defensively.
I dont get why he would take a 1 year deal but I think it looks to be a decent add for us.
Thinka younger version of Dozier.

Hopefully he can bounce back after a terrible 2nd half of last year

Wow! He's probably one of the best FA signings by the Twins in recent memory by far.

He's good.
Camden probably helped his case a little in the power department, but this is a solid, bargain signing.

But at least we don't have to deal with them anymore. The one year deals that are misses (or huge misses) only hurt you for that year.D_B_U wrote: ↑Thu Dec 06, 2018 5:03 pmYou are clearly forgetting Lance Ly...Tommy_Hawk wrote: ↑Thu Dec 06, 2018 4:18 pm Wow! Ya, I actually didnt mind what they did last year. Low risk medium reward. It didnt work but I liked the attempt.Sidewinder2k2 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 06, 2018 5:25 pmBut at least we don't have to deal with them anymore. I think a lot of that had to do with him being essentially a platoon player with Milwaukee.Corre Ricky Corre wrote: ↑Thu Dec 06, 2018 4:00 pm Hopefully he can bounce back after a terrible 2nd half of last year

These 1 year "prove it" contracts are ok, and it's sure nice to be rid of the underachievers with no obligation. BUT, if one of these guys has a great year then the 'new" Twins management better be ready to pony up and secure the services of the good ones....

His OBP is atrocious. He's a bit of an upgrade from Forsythe I guess.

He signed a 1 year deal worth 7 million. That's all you need to know about how sought after he was.Small Hands wrote: ↑Thu Dec 06, 2018 8:51 pm His OBP is atrocious. He's a bit of an upgrade from Forsythe I guess.

Re: Twins to sign 2B Jonathan Schoop
This is a concern for me. The front office admitted (somewhat) that LoMo and Lance Lynn were impacted by 'auditioning' with each at bat and start which both got in the players' heads and prevented them from fully acclimating to the team concept.
I hope we don't see 3-4 1-year deals for significant pieces of this team.

I am not a fan of this either but I think that it will be our reality for this offseason and next. I think they are just buying hold overs until Lewis, Kirilloff, Larnach, Rooker and Gordon get here. If they don't trade any of them, I can see all 5 being here in 2020.Ask Not wrote: ↑Fri Dec 07, 2018 8:36 amThis is a concern for me. Re: Twins to sign 2B Jonathan Schoop
Seems OK. There were other options like LeMahieu and Lowrie, but they must have liked something about Schoop. He's an excellent defender and has power. He's a dead pull hitter, which should play well at TF. If he struggles like last year, it's only a one year deal. If he's great and the team stinks, you can flip him at the deadline. If he's great and the team is good, then he's probably a big reason why. Seems like a good deal.
TR would have gone into the season with Torreyes and Adrianza battling for that job with the loser being the utility guy, or he would have given the job to Gordon whether or not he's ready. This is a better solution than those.

Nobody else is either. There's two guys on the top shelf and neither would play here unless you give them 40 million a year for 10 years.Slim Shady wrote: ↑Fri Dec 07, 2018 3:11 pmI fear this is correctSergeant Rubetube wrote: ↑Thu Dec 06, 2018 9:14 pmHe signed a 1 year deal worth 7 million.
