When is Chicago expected to be contenders in the Central, anyone know?

Probably sooner than the Twins (if they get Machado).

Machado doesn't do much for me for some reason. I hate both of these guy's personality wise but Harper is by far the player I would rather have.

Machado making that would be saying he's one of the top few most valuable players in baseball. I don't see him as that.

I also don't follow baseball as close as I once did. I really only see what the Twins are doing.

Olney had something today about mystery teams in on one or the other and mentioned the Twins.
Fat chance.

This is so ridiculous. Why must the Twins do this every season? It's fucking pointless. Harper isn't signing with the Twins.

Pollock to the Dodgers all but removes Harper there.
I still think they are both bound for Philly.

So many FA's still available, the market reset is real.

Just read an article where Teixera explains why this is going on...basically he explains a post-steroid era of baseball where these players are who they are now. They won't be getting better going into their 30's, so teams arent willing to hand over the dough for long term contracts.

Good.

A 30 year old pitcher shouldn't be getting $150 million over 5 years to pitch 2 good seasons and 3 average or below average seasons.

It's about teams realize that investing in 30 year old arms for a wheelbarrow of cash until they're 35-37 rarely works.

I would go with Harper. It's a pipe dream for either, but I could see Machado get paid and fall off the table. Either one is a risk long term.

Players and owners are heading towards a strike/lockout very soon. One way to prevent that would be to get the younger guys a chance at arbitration/free agency earlier and then have 5 or 6 years be the maximum length for contracts. That's a win-win IMO.

I think we'll get Harper because the Mauer money needs to be used or else the fans will burn down Target Field.

Lol I already said I’d walk 60miles (fly in and walk from my moms house to Minneapolis) in a ninja turtle body suit and go to a game if they actually ponied up for Harper or Machado. Ain’t happening

It's better to just accept reality that the Pohlads wont ever be big spenders. The best thing to hope for is to get a really good FO to come here that is amazing at drafting/scouting/development.

I don't love either at 30 mil, but I think I'd take Manny.
How about both for $50m?
It's been 32 years since one of MN's four major sports teams has been to the Championship/Superbowl.
Every single year is failure until we win one. 4 teams, 32 years. That's roughly 128 consecutive failed seasons.

Neither, get Sano gastric bypass surgery, tell Buxton to use a shorter bat and shorten his swing and all will be good.
