Curious what Pineda will offer. They gave him a lot of money to rehab, just to play this season.

My top 3 "gettable" free agents are Patrick Corbin, Grandal and Kelvin Herrera.

I will have to look up past cast offs, injury riddled old players and guy's who haven't lived up to the hype.Ash Ketchum wrote: ↑Fri Nov 02, 2018 1:21 pm Bored. Don't come here often. Was just trying to see what people thought for 2019...

He'll play well enough for the Twins to trade him at the deadline for a couple low A players with "upside".weimy froob wrote: ↑Sat Nov 03, 2018 11:06 amyep. it's almost time to see how this investment pays off.bubu dubu. wrote: ↑Fri Nov 02, 2018 4:52 pm Curious what Pineda will offer. Re: Your (somewhat realistic) "Dream" 2019 Lineup, Rotation and Bullpen
Corbin seems to be the hot name. I can't come up with a realistic offseason at this point given I don't pay enough attention as of late to the farm system in terms of pitching arms.
This is an interesting write up though:
http://twinsdaily.com/_/minnesota-twins ... ders-r7334
ROTATION ($45M)
Jose Berrios (4M)
Patrick Corbin (24M)
Kyle Gibson (8.5M)
Michael Pineda (8M)
Fernando Romero (0.5M)
BULLPEN ($32M)
Kelvin Herrera (8.3M)
Trevor May (1.5M)
Taylor Rogers (1.5M)
Raisel Iglesias (5.7M)
Addison Reed (8.5M)
Jerry Blevins (6M)
Trevor Hildenberger (0.5M)
LINEUP ($55M)
C: Jason Castro (8M)
1B: Miguel Sano (3M)
2B: Jorge Polanco (0.5M)
SS: Jose Iglesias (9M)
3B: Josh Donaldson (15M)
LF: Eddie Rosario (4M)
CF: Byron Buxton (4M)
RF: Marwin Gonzalez (11M)
DH: Tyler Austin (0.5M)
BENCH ($9.5M)
C: Mitch Garver (0.5M)
MI: Ehire Adrianza (2M)
OF: Max Kepler (3M)
OF: Robbie Grossman (4M)
TOTAL: $141.5 million
Okay, granted, when you add in the money still owed to Phil Hughes, and the buyouts for Ervin Santana and Logan Morrison, it's up closer to $150 million. But such a number still would've ranked around the league median in 2018, and that's before the anticipated spending spree poised to take place this winter.
Plus, look at that beauty. This roster is built to win the division and boasts some staying power. With Chicago, Detroit and KC all rebuilding, and with Cleveland talking about trading away parts to trim payroll, one could argue the time is ripe for full-fledged investment.
I think we can safely say the Twins won't be quite as active and splashy as I've suggested above, but the point to take away here is this: right now we're looking at an almost completely fresh slate, with a wide-open horizon of roster-building opportunity.
You could pick and choose from the ambitious list above and arrive at a more realistic payroll figure while still upgrading with big names in several areas. High-profile free agents like Corbin, Gonzalez, Herrera and Donaldson are very much on the table, and Minnesota's front office should be seeking opportunities to acquire established difference-makers from rebuilding clubs.

Re: Your (somewhat realistic) "Dream" 2019 Lineup, Rotation and Bullpen
1. My FA numbers are based on Heyman, Bowden and MLBTR.
2. My current Twins salaries are more guessing.
3. My only trade is to try to dump Ordorizzi and let Gonsalves or Romero. Another trade could bring a cheaper reliever than the FAs I've suggested.
4. Salaries don't include extensions for guys like Berrios, Rosario or Polanco.
Free Agents:
Patrick Corbin - best SP on the market --5 yrs / $105M
Daniel Murphy - professional power hitter to play 1B/DH -- 2 yrs/$20M
Joey Galvis or Jose Inglesias - new shortstop until Lewis comes up, first guy to accept following deal -- 2 yrs/$11M
Jeurys Familia - closer -- 2 yrs/$20M
David Robertson/Kelvin Herrera/Joe Kelly -- set up man, whoever takes less than $20M -- 2yrs/$17M
??? Drew Pomeranz - 6th starter, solid reliever -- 1 yr/$6m
ROTATION ($51M)
Jose Berrios (.7M)
Patrick Corbin (24M)
Kyle Gibson (10M)
Michael Pineda (8M)
Jake Ordorizzi (8M) (much less if it's one of the kids)
BULLPEN ($29M)
Familia (10M)
Kelvin Herrera (8.5M)
Addison Reed (8M)
Trevor May (.7M)
Taylor Rogers (.7M)
Trevor Hildenberger (0.5M)
Busenitz (.6M) or 1 of 5 other guys
LINEUP ($28M)
C: Jason Castro (8M)
1B: Daniel Murphy (10M)
2B: Jorge Polanco (0.6M)

Total Payroll: $114M ($107M without Ordorizzi)

0.0% chance Patrick Corbin comes here. It's not the twins way. The 5 man rotation is ok already. They need to sign several everyday players, they better sign some quality big league guys. I think fans are getting feed up with the same old same, it's reflected in attendance numbers.

You need to add some money. May, Rogers, Rosario, Buxton, Sano, and Kepler are all arbitration eligible. You have those 6 making roughly $5 million when it'll be more like $18-20 million, most likely. So, YOU LOSE! YOU GET NOTHING!

So, if I disclaim that I'm going to fuck something up, said fuck up gets negated? Is that a thing? Wow, that's GREAT! I'm so excited to disclaim to the court that I'm going to violate the rules of evidence so that when I do it, they can't ding me for it because I said I was going to do it! You've set me free!Ask Not wrote: ↑Wed Nov 14, 2018 11:53 amApparently you missed disclaimer #2. I think they need another arm, preferably a high end starter.full force five wrote: ↑Tue Nov 06, 2018 9:23 am 0.0% chance Patrick Corbin comes here. It's not the twins way. Can't count on Pineada, anything he gives you is a plus. Romero shouldn't be locked in for a spot either.
Gibson/Berrios/Odorizzi and then you hope someone fom the Gonsalves/Romero/Stewart/De Jong group emerges but give me another top end stud. GET IT DONE! Corbin!!

I can definitely roll with this. If there's anything I want to the FO to spend money on it's the bullpen.
