Moose is returning to the Royals for a bag of peanuts. 1 year, 5.5 million. $2 million in incentives. There is a second year mutual option that would give him 15 million next year. That's less then half of the qualifying offer value. Wow! Great deal for them. I thought they'd keep Hosmer and lose Moose.

He's fully guaranteed the rest of his contract. If he loses a leg in a car accident, he'll get every penny. Although in that scenario, insurance would cover most of it.

He's not injured and you can't just flush 26 million over the next 2 years down the toilet. So he'll be the long reliever until he gets hurt.
