Crazy game in Washington tonight. Caps up 6-4 in the third only to have Kane tie it with one second left and then Hertl wins it in overtime giving him a hatty. Ovie also with 3. 6 straight losses now for the Caps

Oof. That's some rough company to be lumped with. Montreal with significantly better Cup odds?

Yeah, that's a little strange. I'm guessing it probably has more to do with the fact they think a team like Montreal will likely have easier early matchups in the playoffs whereas the Wild, if they make it will probably have to go through Winnipeg and Nashville in their first two series.

THIRD STAR - DEVAN DUBNYK, G, MINNESOTA WILD

Dubnyk - who represented the Central Division at the 2019 Honda NHL All-Star Weekend - earned two wins for the Wild (26-21-3, 55 points), compiling a 2.00 goals-against average and .926 save percentage in two starts. He made 30 saves in a 4-2 victory over the Vegas Golden Knights Jan. 21, followed by 20 stops in a 5-2 triumph against the Colorado Avalanche Jan. 23. Dubnyk then turned aside 25 shots across a pair of contests at Saturday's 2019 Honda NHL All-Star Game, including 19 in the Central Division's 10 4 win over the Pacific Division in the semifinals. The 32-year-old Regina, Sask., native shares fifth place in the NHL with 20 victories in 2018-19 (2.57 GAA, .913 SV%, 1 SO), his fifth 20-win season in as many campaigns with Minnesota.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired Jake Muzzin from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for forward Carl Gundstrom, the rights to unsigned defenceman Sean Durzi and the Leafs' first round pick in 2019.

Muzzin, 29, has appeared in 50 games this season, recording four goals and 17 assists for 21 points. In 496 NHL games, he has 213 points (51 goals, 162 assists). He captured the 2014 Stanley Cup as a member of the Kings.

That's a good trade for both clubs. Muzzin won't win a Norris trophy anytime soon, but he's a real solid defenseman that's pretty good on both ends of the ice and can play in pretty much any situation. Having said that, I still think they are another solid defenseman away from seriously upgrading their d-corps from average to good, but this is a step in the right direction. In other words, I picked Tampa to win the East before the season began and this doesn't change that.

I picked the Leafs to take on the Jets with the Jets winning it all. If Laine don’t get his shit together that very well may not happen.

Auston Matthews and the Toronto Maple Leafs have agreed on a five-year, $58.17M extension, which will go a long way in the general manager keeping his young core together for multiple runs at the Stanley Cup. Per Chris Johnston of Sportsnet, 93 percent of money coming the forward’s way will be paid in signing bonuses.

That sucks, but it couldn't have happened to a more deserving dbag. Russo has commented before that Neal and Ryan Kesler are the only two NHL players he's ever come across that he absolutely cannot stand. Lost a few teeth like that in a similar (yet more violent) fashion when I was a kid playing baseball.

And Russo is spot on.
I’ve only had a few chipped teeth but never lost one. Plenty of stitches though as I played back when face masks weren’t used.

Seems a little late in the day for it to happen now. I can never tell when Common is being serious with his "sources"

Edit: I just listened to it again to see if I heard him right. He said it was his opinion that he will be gone by the end of the day, insinuating he knew something.

He is right about this stuff though sometimes. Last year in the playoffs he broke the Parise broken sternum news a couple of hours before anyone else did.

Having said that, he's gone one way or another thanks to this collection of stiffs. It's just a matter of when?

It should be an interesting couple weeks now that Fenton has been given the green light to move anyone and everyone if that's what he feels is necessary.

Minnesota Wild: Nothing comes easy when you play the Wild. Minnesota leads the NHL with the fewest giveaways this season (345), which is significantly less than No. 2 Colorado (400) – and way, way less than Florida’s 831.

SQ for you serious Wild fans.

Would the fanbase still support the team through a 3-4 year full rebuild?

Remarkable to own a stat like that and be mired in the mess they find themselves in, but leave it to them to figure out a way to do it I guess.
