Josh Freeman
October 21, 2013
20/53, 190 yards as Vikes gave an 0-6 Giants team their first win of season. Amazingly, Freeman actually played worse than those stats indicate, missing receivers by incredible margins, some short, but mostly long. I seem to recall a sideline fade that went into the stands. It was truly an amazing thing to have seen.

Chester Taylor 95 yard TD run against Seattle. After that run the Vikes broke that game wide open. Taylor rushed for like 170 yards that day.
At the time he set the record for the longest play from scrimmage, but I don't think the record stood for very long ( can't remember who broke it).
Chester is not a one hit wonder.

I still remember the threads in the Old Dawn about how we needed to get him because of his 4500 yard or whatever season and how " Pro Bowl caliber 25 YO franchise QBs just never hit the open market"Stork311 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 27, 2018 8:38 am Josh Freeman

Defensive end Randy Holloway holds the Vikings single game sack record with 5 tallied against the Atlanta Falcons in 1984. He totaled 6.5 sacks that year.

I remember I was so amped for that game. In classic rube fashion I was enthralled by the idea of getting a young veteran qb with a big arm because of how rarely they become available. Turns out he was available for a good reason.Stork311 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 27, 2018 8:38 am Josh Freeman

Versus the mighty Bears in the last game of the year in 2014 at TCF Bank
11 tackles, three assists and a pass breakup.
I was there.
I witnessed the dominance in a game that meant everything to these two teams.

Re: Obscure Minnesota Viking One Game Wonders
I think it was in 77 when running back Sammy Johnson Had like 75 yards and a touchdown in a win against the Packers.
He had several power runs that got first downs when the Vikes were trying to kill the clock. All the post game talk was about how the Purple had found "the next Bill Brown"!
I don't believe he totaled 75 yards in his next 5 games combined.

Caught what would have been the game tying 43yard TD but the XP was missed. He than recovered onside kick that lead to game winning kick. SD was a real good team at the time. He had one other 100 yard game in a blowout loss to 49ers.

We should probably add this guy because in 10 years he'll deserve to be here. (Might be a 2 game wonder though)
It's been 32 years since one of MN's four major sports teams has been to the Championship/Superbowl.
Every single year is failure until we win one. 4 teams, 32 years. That's roughly 128 consecutive failed seasons.

Re: Obscure Minnesota Viking One Game Wonders
Two Vikings first round picks in Holloway and Mark Mullaney trying to chase Terry Bradshaw down. Randy Holloway looked for a while in college like he would go #1 overall, or at least in the top 5. A few years later when we took another Pitt player with the 4th overall, Chris Doleman, and tried him at linebacker it looked like we had another dud. But Floyd Peters moved DOleman to DE and made him a HOF player. (I do wonder if Doleman doesnt spend 3 out of his last 4 seasons in SF with 38 sacks if he makes it to the HOF playing his whole career in Minnesota and Atlanta).

He was also a camp/preseason hero. Like Tyler Thigpen and Jason Carter. I think he had two pick-6s in one game one year.DonaldDouchebag wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2019 9:48 am Audie Motherfucking Cole
