Yes or No: Zimmer or Spielman Fired Postgame?

Post by Tommy_Hawk »

Simple question–Do you see either getting fired after today's game?

I say it's unlikely Zimmer gets fired unless they lose by 17+, and I think it's more likely Spielman gets fired.

Neither.

Both get a pass this year but next year they will both be let go if the Vikes don’t make the playoffs.

And if they make the playoffs and lose in the first round. Do we keep doing this dance every other year?

Lose by 40, improve draft position, and hope the embarrassment gets Zimstone fired. That’s the goal.

I hope so too. Won’t happen though.

And I like him. He is a very good coach. But he is also not a championship level coach.

I think we'll be pretty loaded and have a good chance to make a run next year.

If not, I'm with you. But we're in a decent spot.

Is it a Minnesota thing that fans convince themselves that they will make a run next year even with years of experience of the team being playoff but not championship worthy at their best?

“Making the playoffs and hoping to get hot” seems to be the Minnesota philosophy.

The twins do it. The wild do it. And the Vikings do it.

I would place the blame on Spielman. He needs to do a better job of filling positions of need with a combination of impact rookies and vets - notably OL, DE and DB.

He hit a home run with Jefferson but that was an obvious pick when he fell in our laps in the first round.

I can’t really blame him this year for Pierce opting out due to COVID and not knowing the severity of Hunter’s injury. Both huge blows to our defense. But leaving an all rookie DB corps was suspect.

I could be wrong but I just don’t see the Wilfs letting either one them go this year.

I think we have a crack at the top seed next year. NO and the Pack aren't getting any better, and we can beat either. We should've beat Seattle with a bunch of scrubs and rookies on D.

Now's not the time to blow it up. Not yet. It helps that we're in the NFC. There are no Chiefs in this conference.

Getting rid of Zim is the opposite of blowing it up.

This year was one of the worst defenses in the league. The offense carried us and has plenty of firepower. Literally anyone could improve the defense next year, especially getting the injured back. Zimstone is not needed, and only a hindrance at this point. Unless you’ve enjoyed coming out flat against good teams the last decade.

I really wouldn't mind seeing Spielman let go. I'm over his personnel philosophy, and it's proven not to equate to Championships.

I'd like to see Zimmer one year with a competent GM, who knows OL/DL always equals success.

Yeah, that’s not how it works with GM’s. One year? Wtf?

I know, that's why I'd like to see it. If that WAS how it worked, then I'd already know, and wouldn't like to see it.

Spielman isn't going anywhere in my opinion. I can see Zimmer fired at some point and Rick surviving.

You might be right that playoffs is all it will take but i need a division title and a deep.playoff run.

Going 10-6, losing all the big games and getting dumped right away in the playoffs isn't enough anymore.

This team needs to be a serious contender next year.
