So as soon as Zim is replaced teh defense is immediately better? Not sure I buy that. Not tryna suck his nuts, but I've seen him coach some good defenses.Bros Before Shiancoes wrote: ↑Sun Jan 03, 2021 12:14 pmThis year was one of the worst defenses in the league. The offense carried us and has plenty of firepower. Literally anyone could improve the defense next year, especially getting the injured back. Zimstone is not needed, and only a hindrance at this point. Unless you’ve enjoyed coming out flat against good teams the last decade.whiskerbiscuit wrote: ↑Sun Jan 03, 2021 12:11 pmPerhaps.Bros Before Shiancoes wrote: ↑Sun Jan 03, 2021 12:10 pm
Getting rid of Zim is the opposite of blowing it up.
Perhaps not.
You can do a lot worse than Zimmer. We certainly did for at least a dozen years before he got here.

Will the defense immediately get better from this year? Yes, of course. How could you not buy that? He’s an overall good defensive coach, sure. But for all of the stated reasons, how could the D not get better next year, with or without Zim?whiskerbiscuit wrote: ↑Sun Jan 03, 2021 1:37 pmSo as soon as Zim is replaced teh defense is immediately better? Welp! That about settles it then, unless they get a DWI or arrested for lewd exposure. Thanks to all whom participated in the thread. It's appreciated.

I’m not saying I would rather have Childress but I’m not not saying it either

Serious question... if Spielman was fired, do you think his brother Chris Hires him in Detroit? GM, or some other job? Would be kinda cool to work with your brother.

This. This was just a complete waste of a year. It'll be like it never even happened, or at worst, spun into some sort of positive by the Zimm lovers.

I think we've said this the last couple years now regarding playoffs or making a deep run.Butch Bradford wrote: ↑Sun Jan 03, 2021 11:53 am Neither.
Both get a pass this year but next year they will both be let go if the Vikes don’t make the playoffs.

Due to the extensions given both I'd be surprised if Zygi cut the cord. That being said, Zim and Spieldope have both had ample time here and have achieved some successes, but if the goal is to get to the Super Bowl both have failed and the Wilf's might as well go in a different direction if they indeed are hoping for the Lombardi trophy.

Re: Yes or No: Zimmer or Spielman Fired Postgame?
Neither of them will get fired mainly because of the extensions. I'm sure the Wilfs in hindsight wish they wouldn't have given them extensions but they are stuck now. Both guys are tied together and if you fire one you have to fire the other. No coach will want to come in and work with the old GM and vice versa.
Next year will be the year they both get fired if they don't make the playoffs.

I believe they fired Childress the year after they extended him. Not sure about FrazierHerky wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 12:10 pm Neither of them will get fired mainly because of the extensions.
