Dalvin Cook is a Top 5 Talent in the League at RB, Change My Mind

When healthy, this kid is special. You can literally see it plain as day on tape just how electric he is with the football.

Line up all the running backs in the league right now and you get to pick whoever you want. I’ll take Cook after only a couple of guys.

Injuries have been the major issue, but my god, what a stud.

I love Dalvin but Zeke, Kamara , McCaffrey, Bell, Barkley , and Gurley(although now it’s debatable with his issues) are probably better.

Been saying it for a while. He's not a perfect fit for every system, though he could thrive to some degree no matter how you play him. But he is absolutely perfect for this system. For those that dont know, this is essentially the same system (with some tweaks for the times) that was being run in Denver when they just threw in a random thousand yard rushers year after year. Till they got Terrell Davis.

Dalvin Cook has more natural talent, awareness and ability than TD ever had. If the cat can stay healthy, and the line can move some bodies... We'll see where it goes.

One things for sure, he dominated this game.

To steal a term from the MLB, he's a 5 tool RB. Rare to find.

Speed
Quickness
Power
Pass Block
Pass Catch
It's been 32 years since one of MN's four major sports teams has been to the Championship/Superbowl.
Every single year is failure until we win one. 4 teams, 32 years. That's roughly 128 consecutive failed seasons.

Zeke, Christian, Kamara, Saquon, Gurley...thats about all I can name that's for sure ahead of him at this point. When healthy, he can crack that tier.

The common theme in this thread is 'when healthy'. If he finishes a full season and is in the top 5 then yes, he is a top 5 talent. We've seen games like this from him before so we know what he can do, he just needs to stretch it out for a full season is all before we crown him.
I apologize in advance if what I just said offended or upset you.

The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.

DC's a threat to take it to the house every time he touches the ball. what more could you want from your back? i'd say he's the vikings biggest weapon on offense.

If Madison stays healthy that will benefit Cook too. He’s a legit backup I think and can spell Cook when he needs a rest. Cook isn’t built for 20-25 carries a game all season so it will be nice to trust sometime to pick up 8-10 carries a game and let Cook rest.

Indeed. Pretty much been only one moron here who hasn't seen that, most of us have seen it since day one that this guy has a very high ceiling.

Zimmer summarized it very well the kid has great feet. Quick change of direction, great balance, and very explosive feet. We need to get better better interior blocking so that we can run to the zero and one hole better as he is a good inside runner as well, cuts very well. Plus play action overall will be better if the defense believe we can run up the middle and not just the stretch runs....

You typed the exact reason why Cook can't be considered a Top 5, even Top 10 RB. He's been on the sideline for more than half of his career so far. If he stays healthy, it's obvious that he's a beast. That's a big if, though.

Gurley averaged 7 ypc yesterday. I think he's fine.

Dalvin is right there in terms of ability. He has amazing speed and is strong. Bell is getting up there in age, so if Cook can squeeze into the top 5 if he can put together a whole season. That's a big IF.

I am not crowning him anything until he proves he can play a full season and perform against better teams. The Falcons run defense has been shit for the last 3 seasons.

16 games played so far-

3 games over 100 yards rushing
6 games under 50 yards rushing

Last year against playoff teams
LAR: 10 carries, 20 yards, 0 receptions, 0 yards
CHI: 9 carries, 12 yards, 3 receptions, -2 yards
NE: 9 carries, 84 yards, 8 receptions, 22 yards
SEA: 13 carries, 55 yards, 5 receptions, 28 yards, 1 TD
CHI: 11 carries, 39 yards, 4 receptions, 21 yards

Last year against GB
10 carries, 38 yards, 3 receptions, 52 yards
10 carries, 29 yards, 3 receptions, 47 yards, 1 TD

The fact that you're using Cook's stats, behind the worst OL in the NFL, makes you look a lot less intelligent than the people you're trying to besmirch. Your trolling has gotten incredibly lazy. Step it up or stop posting.

Said 10 times before the year that he would be 2000 yards from scrimmage and top 5 for MVP if he's healthy.

Good damn start.

I'm not sure I can change your mind because I love the kid but you tossed in there "when healthy" which is all that matters in the NFL at the running back position which is why their value in the league is devalued. He could be in the discussion but other guys have proven already they are in the top 5 over that span.

The last 2 seasons total yards rushing and receiving just for some comparison:
Gurley - 3,924 yards, 40 TDs
Hunt - 3,362 yards, 25 TDs
Elliott - 3,253 yards, 18 TDs
Kamara - 3,146 yards, 31 TDs
C-Mac - 3,051 yards, 20 TDs

Lindsey - 1,278 yards, 10 TDs (1 season only)

Dalvin Cook - 1,364 yards‬, 6 TDs

God were we awful on the ground last season.

I just want him to stay healthy. When he was out there late in the game last week it was like WTF? We need him on December and hopefully into January... and beyond.

Said many times before the season that if he's healthy he's top 5 for MVP.

And he's exceeded my expectations so far.
