Also notice that the packers couldn’t do anything until they moved the pocket, play action and ran stretch runs.

I hope stefanski sees this. That doesn’t mean running one motion play and then back to five step drops. There’s no reason not to run motion or play action on 80% of pass plays against the bears. Also, hurry up offense also works against them. They can’t set and sub.

Quite frankly both teams look like 500 teams to me. Complete garbage.

Good post. Cousins needs that anyway, regardless of who opponent is.

Week 1 often has stinker games like this.
GM Spielman:
  • Record 62-48-2 (.559 winning %)
  • Playoffs 1-3
  • 7 years - reached playoffs 3 times.
  • Winner of the North 2 of last 4 years
Zimmer is 48-33-1

I'd rather have the Packer defense than ours.

Their defensive backfield is probably top 3 in the league, and they're YOUNG.

Trubisky is just good enough to be a mediocre, Bridgewater/Pennington-type dude.

Hope they give him a second contract! :D
Like that, y'all, pop some more shit.

I think the bears with extremely luck last year. They have only a few playmakers on offense, their D will wear down over time. An injury to Mack, Hicks or Smith and they are average at best.

I would take a Week 1 game with a few grains of salt - especially on a Thursday. Trubisky may end up being garbage but did he even take a snap in a pre-season game? Brady he is not. I suspect the Bears will be better in the end than they displayed this game.

The ONLY time it would be acceptable to root them is if their win means something directly and immediately impactful, ie, a playoff berth or something.

This really needs explaining?
I know exactly , I was cheering for the bears, But they looked horrible. Not happy the Packers won at all.  :

Rhodes is done. Waynes probably won't be on the team next year. Harry is on the downside of his career. What do we have left? Hughes? Jury is still out on him. Maybe Alexander. That's it.

Packers have Alexander who will be a pro bowler this year and right now is better than any CB we have. Savage is going to be a beast. Amos is a pretty decent player. Tramon is better than Rhodes.

Tell me where I'm wrong..

I hate that it's coming to this.
The Bears just lost a divisional home game, that's a huge deal.

Week one matters, and players should prepare accordingly in the preseason and coaches need to promote that more.

Jaire was drafted #18 overall, he should be good.
Savage was drafted at #21, he should be a beast.

It's not that impressive.

Harry and Rhodes

or

Alexander and Savage

for this year and future

You have two good young players on cheap rookie deals, while Harry and Rhodes are on the high end because they've earned their extensions. It's not even worth comparing.

I'd much rather have Danielle Hunter for 5 yr/$72M than Preston Smith for 4 yr/$52M.
I'd much rather have Anthony Barr for 5 yr/$67M than Z'Darius Smith for 4 yr/$66M.

I don't care how much they're getting paid.

Replace Rhodes with Hughes, I'd still take their two.

Put the contracts aside and I think only purple dopes would say they would take our two over their two.

I personally think the contracts are relevant, because it's in a salary cap league.
I could be tempted to say Jaire/Savage over Rhodes/Smith if it also came with an extra $20M or so in cap space I could use elsewhere.

And sure I would take Jaire (the CB drafted at 18) over Hughes (the CB drafted at 30) but is that even brag worthy?
Jaire should be better, but Hughes looked damn good too in the short time he was available.
