Re: 2018 Froob All-Time NFL Draft - Duffman is on the clock!
Sounds good. After this weekend, we’ll skip on weekends as well. I know we aren’t in any real hurry, but once I have all the players in Madden, it’ll be relatively easy to just switch players around if we want to go again after it’s all over.
While we wait, was thinking we could discuss how it’ll go on Madden.
I assume not all of you have Madden, so we can’t actually play, and so we’ll sim the games and I’ll stream them and post the Twitch link so you can watch (you won’t need to watch live, Twitch let’s you save the streams for later viewing).
I will turn subs off so none of the bench players get any snaps, and I will turn injuries off.
We’ll run a full season, but I’ll only stream AFC vs AFC games. Stats will be recorded, and I’ll post screen shots of league leaders and any stats you guys want to see as we go.
I am still trying to play around with it, but I think you guys will be able to pick, in general, what kind of “system” you want to run with your team. 4-3 vs 3-4 obviously, what tendencies your “coach” has such as run/pass % and what playbook you use. It will be a matter of me manually switching over to a new “character” on Madden for each team, so bear with me.
None of this is likely to go without some hiccups, so please keep that in mind. This is a lot of work.
I am thinking I’ll have the most time to stream on weekends or night time, so I’ll try to be realistic with when the streams are posted. There’s usually 4-6 AFC vs. AFC games per NFL week, so I’ll probably manage to get through an NFL week in roughly a few real life days.
Maybe, we’ll do a Froob Game of the Week stream posted in the evening, with the remaining games being done by the end of the next day. I’ll try my best with that.
Any questions or suggestions?

When my team comes last this time, does that mean i get to pick first next time, so i can eventually get 4 picks at a time?
Self praise is no praise. But i am pretty great...

Ash Ketchum (A) aka the Raiders select...
OG Logan Mankins
- 7x Pro Bowler
- 6x All Pro
and...
OLB Thomas Davis
Here’s my reasoning for Thomas Davis.
For whatever reason in the broad conversation about who the best linebackers of all time are, we lump all “linebackers” together. That means 3-4 OLBs who are pass rushers and accumulate glamorous sack totals are lumped together with 4-3 MLB, 3-4 ILB and 4-3 OLB (Will AND Sam), each of which are their own specific position and have VERY different job descriptions.
A 4-3 weakside LB and a 3-4 OLB are no more similar than a WR and a RB are. They both play on the same side of the ball and have similar goals as far as the team goes, but they do completely different things.
If in our collective minds, we mentally separated the specific LB positions rather than lumping them all together, someone like Thomas Davis would be considered more of an all-timer than he is.
He is one of the very best 4-3 weakside LB of all time when you consider his intelligence, leadership, tackling ability and speed in coverage. He’s a surefire Hall of Famer if WLB was thought of as its own position.
He doesn’t get the respect he deserves because so many 3-4 OLBs who put up gaudy sack totals leapfrog him in our mental rankings of “linebackers.” Similarly MLBs are always thought of as the centerpiece to a defense, and so they too rise in the rankings because of it.
WR Moss
DT Sapp
DE Strahan
CB Green
RB Tomlinson
MLB Kuechly
WR Jones
QB Cunningham
SS Taylor
CB Barber
FS Thomas
DE Suggs
OG Wisniewski
OT Anderson
TE Olsen
OG Mankins

S Kenny Easley 6'3 207
One of the leagues great centerfielder. Pure ballhawk.
DPOY, 5 probowls, 3 all pros, all 80s team.
Short career after getting kidney disease.
32 picks in 89 games
WR Wes Welker 5'9 190
5x probowler, 4 all pros
5 years with over 100 catches.
Cant think of a much better slot receiver. Certainly knows how to win. Jitterbug with hands and knack for finding a soft spot. Gives Rodgers a deadly trio.

Of the 2 former Patriots recently taken amazing stats I didn't realize and really surprised me....
1. Wes Welker no rings
2. Tom Brady was like 13-1 in the playoffs without Logan Mankins and 9-8 in the playoffs with him and also zero rings.
How do you play with the goat that long and not get a chip?

Sorry dudes. I don't froob on the weekends, and certainly not during a Vikings game. I have a 2 and 5 year old so all of my down time happens at work. In all fairness, I'm still within the 24 hour rule.
